Well they'd move more if they all were on the same page, and maybe get them out of the gates just a bit quicker, yah I know there are tons of logistics involved, but looks like Taurus / FreeStyle / are two that may get axed if not already. Mustang looks good and is up and could be higher if they allowed more manuals to automatics.
Thanks Mr. Guru for sharing

Ford beat Toyota 10 months out of the year, and still they are predicting that Toyota will overtake Ford? Ford beat Toyota in January,February, March, April, May, June, August, Sept., October, & December, yet there is not mention of that fact.

I've seen the "Toyota will overtake Ford" headline every year for that last 3 or 4 years, yet it still has not come to pass. Month to month, yes it has happened, but on an entire year, no. I have seen "Toyota will overtake GM" headline for the about same amount of time.

I guess they feel that if they keep repeating it, it will come true. Way to kick the home teams while they're down!

All joking aside, I have to agree with Vermillion06 on this one: it seems as though the media have been forecasting that Toyota would surpass Ford for about...oh, three years now.

In addition to being the recall king last year, now it seems as though Toyota's got its hands dirty for tax fraud, too.

We're talking about North America...and the inroads Toyota has made here. If the present trend continues, Toyota will inevitably overtake Ford in North America (they're now ahead of DCX)...but they still have a lot of ground to cover to beat GM.

North American sales figures for 2006:

1. GM - 4.03 million vehicles
2. Ford - 2.72 million vehicles
3. Toyota - 2.54 million vehicles
4. DaimlerChrysler - 2.14 million vehicles

BC Shelby: I understand that, but I am looking at the BIG picture. Toyota is #2 in the world, ahead of Ford. North America is just a small slice of the pie. We have some of the least imaginative cars in the world compared to the variants sold under the same manufacturers overseas (with the exception of the GT and Mustang for Ford's lineup).

Australia:
Ford Falcon XR8 / FPV GT-P (my guess is that the LH drive 2009 Orion chassis based Falcon in Australia will become the production version of the Interceptor concept for the 2010 MY in both AUS and US).

Europe:
Ford Focus ST (current Mk 2, turbo 5-banger, good news: 2010 Focus Mk 3 will supposedly get more POWER and be available in NA)

Middle East:
Chevrolet Caprice, V8, RWD (good news: 2009/2010 NA Chevy Impala will be the same!)

Unhappy

It's a shame but I at least feel better as long as Ford and GM remain over Toyota. It's sad that alot of the lost sales for Ford come from bad dealer press (which is sometimes warranted and Ford NEEDS to fix this), or this horrible bug that insists that foreign is better then domestic. Doesn't anyone realize that by saying/helping that statement that we basically are saying America sucks/is inferior to the rest of the world? If you go to Japan you don't see them buyng American cars they support their own companies and economy. I don't know about you guys but I like it here and if we keep going outside of our country for everything there will be nothing left that we can be proud of. Sorry this is just urks me......rant off.

Well I buy American...Ford to be exact..and I am in the manufacturing sector. BUT, that doesnt give Frd or any American company the right to take advantage of that with sh*tty service, treating the customer like a PITA when you deal with them, and bending them over and sticking it to them dry with ADM's. That is Ford's real problem not the big bad media. And if some are really worried about losing manufacturing jobs overseas then stop buying your crap at Walmart and Target stores. Insist things are made in the USA with your consumer $$. You are fooling yourself thinking only the car buyer is unpatriotic.

You know, I think it all can be traced to the attitude of trying to "stick it to the Man", i.e. "The Establishment". What better represents the "Establishment" in America than Ford and GM?

Some Americans think by supporting the foriegn automakers, they are rebelling against "The Establishment". What they don't realize is that they are just supporting another "Establishment" : the Japanese "Establishment" (Toyota), the German "Establishment" (VW), etc. ...
