2006 Changing tires what sizes?

I just ordered Boss 302 LS wheels for my 2006 Mustang V6 Pony. Stock tires are 235 55 17. What size tires can I use on the new 19 X 9 wheels. They are from Ford Racing. I would like to put a tire on that will not rub or have to have the speed o re calibrated.

Go here:

http://www.rimsntires.com/specspro.jsp

You can put in the original specs of 235/55-17 and 8" wide rim, with 35 backspace, and then the pertinent info on your new setups.

Back could get 295/35-19s and the speedo will be *very* close. But you can't put those on the fronts, I'd say 275s were widest for sure... 285s MIGHT but you might also rub somewhere.

So if you went 295/35-19s which are almost dead on for speedo accuracy, then the fronts would have to be those (not likely) or the next best down is 255/40-19, or maybe the 275/35-19, but that'll have a slightly smaller diameter. Might look kinda cool, actually.

So maybe 275/35s all round, or maybe even 285/35s would be ok if they don't rub.

And of course, all that is going to cost different amounts of money, so... experiment and find the ones you want best.

Hope that helps!

houtex, Thank you. I appreciate the information. The Ford racing catalog only states I might have to purchase some new steering stops. Off to the Calculator..

FWIW, Awesome is currently shod with 275/40-18s on the 2010 GT500 'Vert 18x9.5" rims. Those are a little wider than yours, and so the offset/backspace is also different.

They do not rub at all. And she's lowered by 1". I've tried. They might, MIGHT, if I was full stop left/right on them and hit a big enough bump/hole. But so far, nope. All is well.

You can use these specs if you want to compare with mine to get your fitment worries over with.

275/40-18 tires. 9.5" wide, 45mm offset. The backspacing will fix itself.

Stock LS tires are 255/40-19 on 19x9 in the front, and 285/35-19 on 19x10 in the back, by the way, so there's that.

Ok, I'll let ya be, pics when they're on!

I had 295 30 20 on the fronts with no rubbing issues. I think you would be safe with the 295 35 on the rear with out issues. I wouldn't run them on the front full time. I would go with what ever /35/19 on both front and back. 295/35/19 on the rear and maybe 275/35/19 on the front. Now someone will chime in and say the 295 is to big for the 9 inch wheel but I ran them for years without any problems or issues.

Being that this car is going to my son who by the way is 16. Not needing the widest tire plus it is a V6. I found the 19 x 9 wheels in a kit for a very very good price. I am going to replace the tie rod ends this week and the wheels will be here on Monday. ordering the tires I hope this week. Thank you all for the suggestions. I hope the wheel combo looks right on this Mustang.
