My first post here after months of lurking. I don't know if this vid is in the members only section, but I figured I'd post the link here. I've uploaded it to my personal webspace. There's really nothing special about the video except it was shot preproduction I'm assuming and the car looks so awesome with those wheels. If I ever bought a new Stang, those wheels would have to be on it.

They look good! The tires in the video sure look a lot wider than stock to me. Could just be the angle, but the rears look like they are right at the wheel lip.

The tires you are staring at are 18" fan blade rims wearing BFG Gforce T/A KDW-NT 255/45ZR18 tires. FORD has not released the rims to the public. Rumour has it they will be an option on the verts late 2005/early 2006. I know the company that is making the rims.

Any chance you could find out more about when they will be offered?

So does that mean that the company who makes them sell them outside of Ford, independently?

That video is from about this time last year.

That tire and wheel combination looks great on the '05. Hopefully Ford will release them by MY '06, because I'm definitlely going to add that set up to my '05.

How much do you think you will be able to pick up a set of the 18s for? It is gonna stink spending an extra 1500 for rims and rubber when if Ford had gotten them out a little earlier, we could have at least gotten the value of the tires and wheels that are coming on our cars.

I don't think those NT tires will be on that car when it comes out...

If you read the bold print:
"This tire intended for Canada only"

I would much rather have the regular KDW, or KDWS.

You are right, it is going to be costly switching, but I've wanted the 18" fanblades all along. Maybe I can sell my current wheels at that time, but I don't know how much of a market there will be. I think that Ford has already increased the price of the Mustang since I bought my '05, by $500 or so. Plus you figure the 18" tire and wheel package will probably be a $500 option when made available for '06. So that is close to a $1,000 difference between what an '06GT with the 18s will cost over what I paid for my early '05 GT.

In addition I have a friend who can get me 30% off of Ford parts and accessories. I figure the 18" tire and wheel package from Ford will cost between $1,500 and $1,700. With a 30% discount I'm probably looking at a cost between $1,050 and $1,190, which isn't much more than the aforementioned $1,000 extra cost of an '06GT.

No, FORD has the rights to them.

True. It seems like usually when a production car makes the show circuit, it has the wheels on it that will be available in production. It is odd that Ford decided to show a production car with options that are not readily available.

You can see why Ford chose those wheels for the early production cars - they look dynamite! They just "work" with this design.

Even after all the aftermarket wheels I've seen, these are still my favorites...especially when chromed and added to a Redfire Stang!!

But here's MY question: Take a good look at that video. Pay particular attention to the wheel gap - or, more precisely - lack thereof. That ride height is PERFECT; no lowering required. Anyone know if that is the ride height intended, and if it's not, EXACTLY which parts Ford used to achieve that height with THAT particular car?

Anybody know the answer to this...?

I think I will have to get the fanblades when they come out. They just look too nice. I figure that if I cannot sell the bullits that come with it, I will slap some pure winter tires on them and run them from Dec. to Feb. May as well get some use of them and not get the salt on the fanblades.

Yeah, like the "Blair Witch Project" of Mustangs! I liked the video, but it looked like the driver was saying "no comment...not comment". Did he flee the interview? The sound was intoxicating! Love that V8!

Sneakers on the car were nice too. I didn't think I'd like those rims, but they're really starting to grow on me. Remind me of Hot Wheels cars.

That video is from a year ago.

Anyway you can always buy aftermarket wheels that look almost the same. The Moda R8 wheels are almost the same.
