Hey all,
The concept pictures all had the Vert with a colored roll bar across the back. I've been looking at the spy pics of the GT vert and I think that 4th rib might be the roll bar. I wanted to know if anyone has the skinny on whether this will be a feature, or if it has been dropped for production?
Personally, I think it would be cool, but part of me thinks it might mess up the look. Ford did say the GT Vert was a seperate design, so unlike earlier verts, they didn't just cut the top off and throw in 500lbs of retractor. This would also account for the statements that the body would be stiffer. Thoughts?

On the 05 page in the timeline. The forums aren't the ONLY plave for great info from this site.
In answering Darth Stang's question, I highly doubt there will be a roll bar on the 05 from the factory. They don't have them on the current one, so it's unlikely the 05 will get one. As for the 4th rib, I can say with near 100% certainty that that is not a roll bar. It's just too skinny, and to be in the right "rollbar place" in the pic below, it would either be visible or blocking the window, and it's neither.
Here's the example I'm referring to:

I have a jeep wrangler that obviously has a roll bar. The rib you can see in the picture can not be a roll bar. The top can not be allowed to touch the roll bar. On the jeep, even a slight touch will make wear marks. I think it is cause the bar is totaly stiff.

I've been thinking about this issue too. I plan on ordering a 'vert and would prefer a roll bar. The factory is not going to offer one. Even the PT Cruiser has a matching rollbar.
The aftermarket rollbars suck. Either they are a nicely shaped and padded non-functional lightbar or a 1950's vintage round tube bar. I approached Autopower about making a modern bar and the s*** would not reply.

You have to decide what you want. Most ones you see (Saleen included) are non- functional light bars. Real roll bars add strength to the frame, are welded to the frame in more that two places, and will actually help in a rollover situation. Anyone that make REAL rollbars can custom fabricate one for just about any car. If you like the look of the light bar you might just have to go with non-functional. :flag2:
