I know I am definitely getting ram air for my new Mustang as soon as I get it. I can't even tell you guys how upset I am that the new GT doesn't have a hood scoop/ram air. I know SVT gets some of the goodies, but give me a break. So, my question is- does anyone know how much it's gonna be to get a hood scoop (hopefully, I can just cut a hole in the hood like Dustin brought up) and ram air? And where exactly I can find the scoop and ram air on the net? I guess, gong by anyone who has put ram air on any of their Mustangs, as far as prices and where to get it. Thanks a lot.

Actually I believe General Motors owns the rights to the term "Ram Air", a more general term would be cold air induction.

Ram Air is a term used for anything that goes from the hood scoop to intake.

whatever you want to call it, it will be pricey.

The shaker kit ala mach1 is available for the current mustangs and it is a pretty penny.KarKraft Ram Air Setup

The price shown is WITHOUT a new hood, so it will add up pretty quick

I say wait until the aftermarket comes up with a nice, clean ram air setup. The days of cutting a hole in your hood and pop-riveting a mailbox on are over IMO.

With a sensor on the air i thought it was going to be as simple as just popping a custom air-filter in front of the throttle-body. But now repositioning things will take a while, but thats what aftermarket is for.
A set-up like below was my plan, but i may not even get it if its not direct.

I'm leaning on leaving it like it is.

There is no reason to get upset its not there? We've known all along it wouldn't be avialbale in a GT from the get go ... You'll have to wait for an SE for it, I'm sure.

I don't understand how hood mounted scoops do not flood engines with rainwater. Is water kept out by the airfilter alone?

In the case of the Mach 1, there are drains in both the scoop mounting and in the scoop itself before it reaches the air box.

Most hood scoop air systems don't allow much water to ever get pulled in. But once it's in, most have a simple way of keeping it out of the engine. Like he said with the Mach there are some well placed drains.
