I am from Canada and recently purchased my pony. I may be a little niave but this is not going on up here. In fact they reduced the MRSP by $3000.00 for my X-plan. I really feel sorry for you people down there. Dont let them take advantage of you!!!

In Canada, we had a much higher allocation than our friends south of the border. That is why deals were easier to find up here. I ordered mine late december, and was able to negotiate a price very close to invoice (no plans).

However, that said, most of the 05 (GT's anyway) around here have been sold, with only a few remaining on the lots. These last GTs here are going for full MSRP.

No need to worry, nobody who doesn't want to pay those prices is paying them.
I sure didn't, and I didn't have a hard time doing it either.

I'm paying just under dealer invoice for my order here in TX, that I placed on 6-1-05.

:tex:

Shop around and schmooze a bit, and the deals are there. Some dealers know the 05's are going to be hard to move now that the 06's are close. They also know the initial rush of mustang fanatics is just about spent, so they are dealing with customers who are looking at other vehicles as alternatives.

Inventory is starting to pile up, which is going to drive prices down.

We have a total of 3 V-6 coupes and 1 V-6 vert. GT's done for '05. The 1st 3 '06's we have coming, I have already pre-sold. We won;t have any stock '06's until at least Sept or Oct. I do not call that piling up!

LOL! Piling Up. They only Piling up going on will be when FOOTBALL
season starts up again. I certainly don't know when Mustang GTs will
sit around on Ford Dealer lots but I believe you can go look around
next April and the "Pile" will still not be there.

It seems that Ford is going to try and keep this momentum by bringing
out special editions quickly. Ford's next step will be critical as they try
to figure out what to do next after many Mustangs are on the road.

"Piling up" was a bad choice of phrase. There is inventory now, at least locally, which is new. My local dealer has been sitting on a GT for over a month at 3k over MSRP, and has another GT on the lot now. The dealer down the road has another GT sitting out front, which is a super nice car, and has been on the lot for over a month as well. The dealers that were willing to work with me only have a few V-6's on the lot, so I am assuming that it is the dealer's price point that is the difference in inventories.

I couldn't even see a GT when I started looking at the cars. The only one I'd been able to look at before I ordered mine was already sold. Now I can wander the lots and see them. Maybe local conditions are different than your area?

Dealerships don't seem to have the customers best interest in mind.
Especially when the big three are in the trouble that they are.
The manufacturers are cutting great deals, but the dealerships seem to finding ways to side step them.

We went to a movie on Saturday and went by the dealership that I bought my car from. They had a TR GT in the used lot. I stopped to see if there was a price. this car was a base GT. No IUP, no ICAP, cloth seats. Sticker price......
$28,999. Don't know the mileage, but if it had 3.1 miles on it, it would still be a rip off.

Well I'm in Vancouver, BC Canada and I can drive around to 4 or 5 dealers any day of the week and see 30+ mustangs.

Just drove by one this morning and they had 5 or 6 verts sitting on the front of the lot. I don't know how many are presold, but I'd bet not many.

I was at the dealer yesterday to pick up some parts. They have 2 GT's on their used lot that they bought from Ford Motor Credit. They both had leather but, no IUP, each approx 7K miles. They had them priced 33,000 and 34,000 each. I have not seen a new GT on their lot all year. (except mine the day I brought it home). They said the were getting sticker but, not marking them up.

Availability is obviously regional so there are dealers out there with GT stock. I searched around and found a dealer in Killeen Texas with about 5 GT's in stock (including 1 Roush and 1 Saleen model) who was willing to deal.

Picked my GT out of that inventory at x-plan.
