The article in Mustang Times this month shows the rear of a V6 and it has no exhaust cutouts. I didn't think to look for that at the plant. Can anyone find any more info?
The pics from 9-1-04 which I'm assuming are recent builds shows 2 V6s in a parking lot and if you blow up the yellow and white one back ends you appear to see the cutouts for the exhaust.....????? recent builds????

All the photos I see online show the car without a rear cutout since the V6 only has a single exhaust pipe.

Yeah, holy shnitzel! I failed to notice myself that some V6's had a cutout and now some don't. They BETTER put the V6 cutout in -- what a cheap look when it's just hanging there. I can complain -- I've got a 1999 V6 and it's got an exhaust that just kinda' hangs there UNDER the bumper.
Well, at least my V8 will look better than other V6's now, so there's some positive aspect for me, anyways.

Brad:
If going by the canadian web site ( www.ford.ca ) it shows under photos/accessories a picture of a chrome tail pipe for the V6 and looks like maybe just a very small top section cutout? least kinda looks that way on left hand side of the pipe....

Having a cut out looks nice if you don't ever plan on adding Dual Exhaust. Yes that cut-out on that '99 prototype looked sweet and I was initially upset when it did not make it to production, but in the end I'm glad Ford eliminated it.
Like many '94-04 V6'ers one of the first things I did on both my '98 and my '04 was to add Duals. Doing so on a car that already has a molded-in single cut-out would look like, well you know !!
To do Duals right, you will be forced to buy a GT Bumper cover and have it painted to match. Not all that dificult or expencive (once take-off GT covers become available as they are for '99-04), but could have been un-neccessary if Ford chose to NOT add a single cut-out !!
When '99-04 V6 specific Dual Exaust kits finally became available, they were designed to be used with the stock V6 bumper cover. The look is similar to the '94-98 GT/Cobra where you can see the side of the Stainless Steel tailpipes behind the tires. Personally, I like this look better than the cut-outs on '99-04 GT/Cobras.
my $0.02
