Hi guys,
just wanted to let you know that "auto motor und sport", a major german car mag, will release it's upcoming issue on September 29, featuring a "Ford Mustang road test", I can't promise it'll be a GT but from what I've heard it will not be the V6.
I'll pick up the issue (it's exactly 14 days left), scan it and translate the article for you if anyone is interested.

Is there a third choice?

Anyway, That would be great to hear what they have to say over there. Look forward to it.

Can't wait till someone does a head to head comparison of the 05 against the 04 mach 1 and GTO in a few months. It would be a very close match.

Mustangs and the like are quite coveted in england and germany. In both countries, the best selling cars are Fords B)

I just recently, within the last few months, remember seeing a English Video Mag review of Ford's 4.6L V8 where the referred to it as a Horrible Engine that was problematic and heavy, when you barely push on the accelerator you get about 8 miles to the gallon. Didn't sound to flattering to me!

Not sure about that. AFAIK, VW sells the most cars, followed by Mercedes, Opel (owned by GM) and BMW (info from June '04). Ford has, unfortunately, a very, very bad image here, they are building very good cars. It's just that the entire model line is boring, small, comparably weak engines everywhere (the top model is the Mondeo ST220 with a 226hp-V6. Wouldn't be a problem if Ford wasn't trying to compete with Audi, BMW etc), they don't have a sporty image, although both Foci (those are selling quite well) and Mondeos (~90% of sold cars are wagons) have excellent chassis, suspension etc... Ford has recently launched a larger marketing campaign where they're trying to emphasize the fact that Fords have become very refined and reliable. But it's the high-end models (Focus ST170 (170hp), Focus RS (AWD Rallye-based model), Mondeo ST220 and Mondeo Titanium (155 or 204hp)) that affect the image most, and all of them are extremely expensive. The ST220, for example, is starting at 43,400US-$.

Was that a review of that MG sedan with that engine? It has the old 4.6l 4V V8

Thats what I am talking about, I believe Foci is the number one volume car in europe.

You mean to say that a 1967 GT wouldnt get attention driving around town?

I was referring to what an Automobile Mag writer might say. I was never including what the average Joe around town thinks, in my comment!

That being said, I will now wait to see what the review is like, and if I am wrong then I'll eat my words!

I think too much has been made of my five word comment! B)
