2005 Mustang Indy Pace Car
Will the 2005 Mustang be next years Indy Pace Car?
I believe so and this is why. The Mustang has had an Indy Pace Car in the first year of three out of four generations, this is a fact!
The only generation without an Indy Pace Car is the Mustang II!
Your thoughts!

Doubt it..
Ford is a major sponsor with CART or OWRS or whatever it is called
GM is a major sponsor of the IRL, which has the Indy 500.
Since the split in 95/96?? every pace car has been a GM. I believe this trend will continue. My bet is the 2005 'Vette will be the pace car next year, or even the GTO... but not the mustang

It will not be. Ford supports CART, IRL's rival league. Only GMs are Indy 500 Pace Cars now.

Makes one wonder if Ford had a contingency plan if CHAMP/OWRS fell through. Did it just so happen that Cosworth had an IRL Spec engine sitting around?!
Wonder how long the lease program with Chevy is?
So Ford is making/saving money two fold.
1. Little/no development of the current Turbo Champ Car Engine. (Save money on development, but spend more on Marketing?)
2. Making money off the Chevy IRL lease program.
Too bad they are spending ~75 Million on NASCAR engine program!
