I checked with my dealer in SC today concerning the status of my order. (Still clean and unscheduled)

During our conversation, the dealer mentioned that someone is trolling the Southeast buying up 2005 Mustang GTs. They are being shipping to Germany where they are resold for big money. Suspicions were raised when this guy tried to buy subsequent Mustang GTs. My dealer told this guy he had local customers waiting and did not want to use up all his allocations.

It is bad enough we are competing with each other to get our orders filled. We now have compete with people in Europe! :notnice:

I would imagine driving a Mustang in the Bahamas must be rough on the car. I almost moved to the USVI, and I was going to have to get rid of mine. Or are the roads in the Bahamas not that bad?

The roads are not as bad as you may imagine, but they could be better. We have major road upgrades going on now. The morning rush hour traffic is more of a problem. B)

I did not mean to cause any offense to the Canadians, so I have edited my post (post haste). There wouldn't even be a Mustang without you guys!

Don't even bring up rush hour. I don't think you can win this one.

That is OK by me, as long as you have your own queue of dealer allocations.

Some people here say Ford is gonna sell the Mustang officially in Europe. I called Ford The Netherlands but they said Ford will NOT sell the Mustang in Europe. Here in The Netherlands you can buy them thru, what we call, gray import. Price for a V6 is $ 50,000 and a GT is $ 63,495. When I buy 1 in the US, I still have to pay 45% ownerstax plus 19% salestax. I HATE OUR GOVERMENT !!! :notnice: :notnice: :bang: :bang:

I know, the BPM is a pain in the ...!!!
But there is a way (as always!) to go around all the extra European taxes: if you are an expatriate living here and working for an embassy or international organisation (plenty of them in Holland), you are exempt from paying the 19%VAT, 45% BPM and whatever % import tax. Look into it, you might find one willing to have it imported on his/her name and "lease" it to you. You can see such cars in Holland, with CD/GN/BN licence plates.
I am lucky to be one of those people, so I only paid EUR 34,000 (USD 44,000) for a '05 GT with ALL extra options on it. However, the paperwork was very complicated, and I had to wait another 4 weeks from when the car arrived at the dealer until I picked it up.
