2005 Mustang Gt Air Conditioner Condenser

Hello all, I tried searching Air Conditioner (A/C) Condenser and no results. My ac started blowing hot and found a rock or something punctured my condenser so my question when replacing condenser, what other components should i replace, while doing this job. 2005 mustang gt premium convertible.

Stop leak's not an issue unless the Previous Owner put in *waaay* too much. The vacuum down leak test will pull it all out probably, and/or it went through the hole anyway, so it won't be a problem goin' forward I'd say.

Assuming that PO didn't gum up the works too bad with that stuff, and if the A/C was working fine, then ostensibly just the condenser will suffice, as long as you hadn't been running it long (which the low pressure switch should turn the compressor off anyway, so that happened) and you haven't had the problem for long and allowed stuff to get in the system, potentially.

*However*... a flush may be still be in order, and the way these systems work with orifice tubes and the compressor, tiny passages higher pressures... IF, and I say IF there's debris in the system it can tear it up/plug it up and then it won't work at all. The flush may or may not can be done with the compressor (I'm pretty sure not though), and/or you might just want to consider taking it to a proper facility for which they can deal with it and with some kind of warranty.

Overall, the proper advice I have to recommend, despite costs and such, is to do/replace the following no matter what so as to ensure you don't have further issues:

Remove condenser, compressor, dryer, orifice tube. One can leave the evaporator in the car as well as any lines. Flush all lines and evaporator core with proper A/C flush. I'd do the lines once, as that shouldn't be an issue, but the evaporator might be a three flush system... once with the flow, once back flush, then once again with flow, to ensure all passages are cleared out and nothin's left to plug up/get in the compressor/orifice tube.

Once flushed and blown out and ready to go, install new dryer, orifice tube, condenser and compressor, and all new o-rings therero, properly lubricated with PAG oil, or at least some sort of compatible enough lube to ensure the o-ring doesn't get messed up. Yes, all that. Reason being you can't really flush those out except the condenser, which has to be replaced anyway. The others may or may not have crud in them and you'll have done the condenser swap for nothing at that point when the orifice tube clogs or the compressor eats itself.

But again, you MAY can get away with just the condenser, and on this car it's an easy enough swap that if you wanted to try it, go for it. I'd just put the thing in with new o-rings, take it to get it vacuum tested and if it passed, send it. May run for years. May stop working and eat a condenser in a week. Gamblin's fun like that.

Hope that helps, good luck and welcome to the forums!
