I was thinking of vinyl stripes at first so I asked 2 friends of mine about this and showed them what I was thinking of one was in the body shop buisness for 20 years the other works for a local stripeing co. They both told me for that width of stripe that it would be almost impossible to ger the air out of the vinyl stripe and that they would have to painted on for what I want as the spoiler ( stripes going over )and the recessed area between the tail lights ( blacked out )

Hey, Ripstang... since you know people in the business, can you ask them how much those stripes (that thickness) would cost to have painted on? Or anyone actually talk to someone and find out an estimate for the price, maybe after bringing in a pic of the '05 with the stripes like on the pics we have of the titanium car? I am definitely considering getting satin silver stripes on my mineral gray stang, but need to get an idea on price, as well as the warranty issue as some mentioned.

Do you feel that the mustang G.T. should have the twin lemans stripes down the body and had this as an option?!? for me I'm going to have a set painted on and hopefully not kill my warranty for the paint on the car. What do you think?

Paint cost depends on numerous variables that are hard to estimate. What type of paint, who is doing the work, etc.
If I lived in CA, I'd take it down to Foose and have him paint the stripes in a subtle pearl!
Ok, Ok, I've been watching too much Overhaulin!

I was told for what I wanted done that it would be around $1000.00 from my friend that worked at a body shop as the spoiler would have to be removed to be painted over and under and to have the entire car masked off for no overspray .Remember this is only a loose price as they havent seen the car yet and this is not a dealer price as well .Now for vinyl its like hairy canary said it would be about $200.00 and up depending on what you want to do with the spoiler and the biggist roll of vinyl if I recall telling me is about 6 inches wide ,...and those stripes on the titanium show car are lined up in width with the openings of the lower front airdam area so I don't know if the vinyl is even going to be wide enough untill I get to see a 05 .

Titanium body with satin stripes. I had thought they (the stripes) were white initially, but someone on the board pointed out that it was actually the production silver.....really highlights the contrast b/w titanium and satin.

Yeah, the widest stripes I've seen in vinyl have been about 6" at the local auto shops...like Pep Boys and AutoZone.
My idea is to go down to the local sign shop, where they have some 3M material that is like vinyl but different...I think its called Scotchcover or something like that. Should be around $200 to $500 to have it done professionaly (and the best part is that you can have custom graphics printed on it...but that would cost more than plain white)
Another idea is to take it down to my friendly neighborhood custom shop...about $1000 to $1500 there, I'm guessing

As an FYI, the Ford GT doesn't come with stripes either. However, the GT has them as an add-on option for $5,000! OUCH!

Striping the GT is NOT an easy task by any stretch.

If I were going to do vinyl stripes, I'd get them from http://www.bobwhitedecals.com/. He seems to know what he's talking about. He has all kinds of stripes & decals, from 6" to 10" wide. Pre-cut for various flavors of Mustang, also. I e-mailed him a while back and asked about the 05, he said he'd have a stripe kit available for it within a month of release.

I'm having metallic pearl stripes painted on my mineral grey 05. I'm not worried about the paint warranty, because I'm have a Ford autobody shop paint it.

Same as most dealership work, doesn't void warranty. Had a rood rack added to my truck. Bought parts from the dealership and had them install it. It carries the same warranty as my truck.

Yeah I wish we could have gotten em as well.
Perhaps even more than the 18s (a close second!) This is the picture I've had on my desktop for months, and had Ford allowed us to build them just like this, I would have one on order by now. As it is, I settled for Redfire, which I like immensely, though it doesn't exactly lend itself to the racing stripes. Seems more a classy color than a sporty one. I have yet to see a stripe combo that works particularly well with Redfire....Anyone found one that works?

Silver or gold stripes are my favorite on a black car.

I use to work at a sign shop, so personally, I will be putting on the racing stripes the day I get the car. I ordered a Sonic Blue and will use Bright Silver Metallic stripes. This way if I get sick of everyone and their brother driving around with the same stripes I can peel them off (with a hairdryer and a little elbow grease) and change the design. Will not affect the paint or the warranty.
