Hello, I am 19 years old and I really want a 2005 mustang. I was going to buy a 2004 torch red mustang and put all the Cobra R body enhancements on it. Then I saw the 05 and realized how awesome it looked. Since I am only 19, insurance would be insane for me to get a GT so I have to get a V6. I figured that since the 05 V6 has a stronger engine than the 04 that I should get the 05. I really want the V8, but it is simply not practical for me, I love nothing more than the V8 growl that the mustang has. I was probably going to order my mustang and that way I could put all the extras that the GT has, like the foglights and spoiler. Plus I found out that I can order dual exhaust. Do you think the dual exhaust would add any more sound/HP to the V6? So what so you think? Should I get an 04 and make it look like the Cobra R, or get the 05....I really love the retro 05 look. Plus, I heard that the silver color in most of the pictures you see with the silver car and the white stripes is titanium, not satin silver that is being released in 05. I would still get torch red because that is all american, for an all american muscle car. Any suggestions/comments would help. Thanks,

A V6 with a Cobra R kit is no better than rice. The Cobra R is a good-looking race car, but not practical for street use... especially with a V6...
Wow, four consecutive posts from guys under 21... I think...

Wait for the '05 Mustang V6, you will be very happy you did. You can throw a 5-7psi Supercharger on it, and be right at 300hp with more torque than the 4.6L GT engine. With the money saved on the V6, power adders will be more budget minded for a 19 year old.

Get the 05 v6, it wil be more comfortablem better looking and handle better.
Plus an 04 v6 with an R body kit is bordering on rice, all show no go.

Rakshas has just given you some good advice. As they say, you can put lipstick on a pig, but in the end it is still a pig. No matter how many pices of body cladding you stick on an '04 Stang, it is still a 1979 Fairmont underneath. (I know I own a 2001 Mustang GT). The '05 is a completely new car. It will ride, handle, drive and accelerate far better than an equivalent 04 Stang. If you are taking a V6, the 05 V6 with its underrated 210 HP SOHC V6 will really smoke an 04 V6.

Get the V6 '05, it will draw the girls like crazy...just ask April and Amy
But, seriously, the '05 will offer better performance in terms of chassis design and will be alot better on the inside, cuz thats were you're gonna spend most of your time, you want it to look and feel good, right?

Dont pee your money away on a 04 when something supercool will be out soon. They look all pretty(Enough to tempt me daily), but imagine how mad you will be when you see the sparkly new one on the road..........

My friend has a 2001 V6 that he put a dual exhaust on. It was the biggest mistake ever. The loss of backpressure made him lose HP and it only runs on 93 octane now. The only way he can make it run on 87 again is to put a fuel management system in it which would void his warranty.
Lesson here is, don't do it. Just put a flowmaster American Thunder muffler on it and it will be plenty loud enough.

Not to mention the fact that you'll be quite unhappy with your '04 as soon as the new Stang hits the streets
