18" polished Bullitt style wheels clearcoated?

Are the factory GT upgrade polished Bullitt style wheels clearcoated, or can they be polished to a higher shine?

Someone else mentioned that they were clearcoated but it doesn't seem like it to me. I have a small indentation where a rock hit the wheel and I don't see any clearcoating flaking off in that area.

Yeah, they have a coating, otherwise they would oxidize like your average polished aluminum wheel (looking at the 91 sporting the convo pro's)

Thanrks, I just put a set on my wife's 07. It's a satin silver convertible and had the silver bullitts on it. The new polished wheels really brightened up.

I was thinking of trying to polish them up a bit, but you guys saved me some time. Weather sucks here now anyway.

I used Meguiars Fine Cut Polish(once a year, its a very fine compound) to clean the road grime off after a good washing. Then follow up with Meguairs NXT every couple of months.

Better to stick to wax and polish.
If the coat of clear is done wrong or with any imperfections it will look worse.

The Bullit wheels

In december I dug up my original 18x8.5 polished factory bullits to put ultra high performance all season on them for fair weather winter driving. A good wash and degreasing, and car polish made them shine brighter than ever, and water beeds right off them. To bad Ford didn't make trhem 18x9's. What a waist. I was able to sneek 275/40/18's on the rears with no problems, and kept to the rule book of 255/45/18 in the fronts for cornering compliance with size. They hook up grat even at 25 degrees. Erik
