It's a decent time, and it's not the lowest I've seen, but You know...The "its great for a <25k car" argument is not really accurate. For all intents and purposes this (your avg GT) is NOT a <$25k car. Avg people who don't have x-a-etc plan are paying 26-27-28k. The GT's that dealers are ordering are pretty much loaded, and come in at $28K+. So really, it's a decent time for a <30K car.
My first and only time at the track in my mach when it was new with less then 500 miles on her, on a cold November morning I got 14.0 @ 103 mph with crappy 2.3 and 2.2 60fts, holding 3rd gear through the traps, like three times in a row just for reference.
I wouldn't worry about the traps it should get better as the motor breaks in some more...just wait til it hits like like 10-15k miles, it'll really start haulin then. These new 05 GTs are mid 13 second cars easy if not better, with practice and tires, these cars are gonna be seein high 12's I think.

I think the big thing that concerns people here is, despite the dyno numbers it seems like Ford had to rely on the gearing to make the car fast, rather than actual power under the hood. Dynos say the cars are making close to 330 hp, but all that extra bulk must be slowing the car down.

Exactly, who cares if your doing 99, 102, 105 when you hit 13.x
Read (I think rhumb, you brought this up) how the stang is an early jumper, but runs out of steam.... whereas other cars start off slugish but build momentum...both equally as fast cars.
**this was with the 14.0 run against the GTO thread

On a lousy track with high heat or humidity, a 1.94 is STRONG on the stock skinny tires. He could be a full half second faster on a dry 70 degree day. Ive run in sticky VA summers and it can kill your run, It took a ton of work to run 1.90's on 04 gts. With of course break-in, gears, exhaust, intake work and getting that crazy-rich 10:1 mixture tuned, I think a gt driver can see times starting with 12.9x with just a little work.
I want to see an auto with 3.90s, reprogramed tranny, intake, exhaust, pullies, tune and tires runs

Good time, good time. But see, I don't get why all you guys are complaining. Oh it's trap speed stinks, oh the regular interior should have had a silver shifter, oh blah blah blah. At least you guys have the car. I have to wait like 3 years before I'll be able to drive like, a '73 Yugo!!! Sheesh, be appreciative every once and a while!

When you adjust for the tire diameter, the rear end gearing on the MTX is EXACTLY the same as the 99 - 04 GT. MTX transmission ratios on the '05 GT are identical to mid 2001 - 2004s.
With the ATX the '05 effective rear end ratio is taller than the 99 - 04 ATX.

high trap speed with the same et = bad traction
so it shouldnt concern you
remember speed is the by product your going for quickness and sometime the faster is not allways the qucker
