As I posted before, I ordered my 2005 GT on 12/30/04. I finally received a scheduled build date the week of July 18th. I verified with Ford
Corp Customer Service on July 20th, my GT was built and scheduled for July 28th
arrival date to my dealer...located 3 hrs from Flat Rock. Since I have heard
nothing from my dealer, I stopped by today and spoke with the Sales Mgr.

He called a contact from Ford to get specific info on my GT. His Ford source said
my GT was 1 of 1,800 Mustangs, including GT's recently built, inbounded at
Flat Rock due to quality issues. The Ford source did not disclose the quality issue.
The Ford source said 1,100 of the 1,800 previously held were released for transit.

Mine has not been released yet. I plan to call Ford Corp Customer Service in the
morning for details on the "quality problem". I would like to know as I'm sure the
other 1,100 soon to be owners would want to know what the issue was and is. If
anyone has info, please post.

Ordering a new "sports car" should be a fun experience. My has been terrible.
I've waited near 8 months for my GT...and now it may be flawed?? I'm very
disappointed with Ford.

That does stink..................waiting 7 months for your car only to be told that there is a problem with it. Hopefully the hold will prevent you from haveing a serious defect in your car when it gets here. But like has been said a million times on these boards......................The car is worth the wait.

Not to worry, be happy they discovered the problem and are fixing it. It could just be a small paint imperfection.

dont be a drama queen. Quality issues always vary. There may not even be a known defect. Since its the end of the 2005 run, they may be checking them over to ensure the transition to the 2006 is nice and easy, or it can be a paint defect as mentioned above. Sure its aggravating, but you did order a vehicle that you knew would take quite a while to get.

The quality issue, from what I heard, had to do with a rear noise. I work at a dealership, and I was expecting a WB V6 Vert to come in around late April to early May, so I can show it to someone, but was one of the cars held up with the recall. That car finally got shipped, so the issue is behind, but the reason, from what I heard from our Rep, was a noise in the rear axle. Hope this helps.

The waiting stinks but they ARE doing the right thing by trying to keep defective vehicles from being delivered. Imagine waiting 6 months to get a car that has a serious defect that forces you to drop it off at the dealership for extended periods of time. I feel your pain though so don't think that do not sympathize with you. Best of luck but remember that they are trying to make sure that the car is delivered in as good of shape as possible.

Mine was picked up too, it shipped on the 25th of July and I should be picking it up this weekend. It won't be long.

I think is a good thing that Ford is fixing potential problems now, rather that wait and release a flawed car, only to send out a TSB later.

Although, waiting since December is painful, so I feel your pain. Hang in there.

I've posted this a few times now, but the long and short of it is, it happens.

My car was suppposed to arrive last week of april. It eneded up in a quality hold for 2 months and has came in june.

Same situation as you. I had to deal with the regional rep to find out what the heck was happening. Needless to say, 2 months after recieving the car, I am still bitter about the whole situation.

Could also be an inventory or supplier issue. Say for instance they ran out of a small part that can easily be added on later. Wouldn't want to shut down and layoff people for several weeks because of this.

I have the same problem i ordered 2 gt on 1/22/05 and the first one was built 6/30/05 and is still on hold apperently? The second one was built 1 week later and arrived at my dealer 4 days later. NOW the funny part they are the same exact cars except for color. Avery option the same. So it has to be a very strange defect in my eyes. Since both my cars are identical except for color. and if it was a paint defect you think they would catch it before they built the car.

I can only suggest that when you finally get the car, take a minute to put all of your frustrations and misgivings aside. You do not want to let them ruin that first drive. This car ROCKS and is worth the wait.

I'm getting a new GT and the dealer has be "looking up info" on the delivery date for a while. 2 weeks ago he told me this week or next... maybe this hold up is what's keeping my back... i think ask him about it tomorrow. .. good luck on getting that car ASAP! I can't wait and i've only been waiting for a few months.

Mine was in the same quality hold. (For 2 months I might add)
I have the gas tank problem.
My struts pop.
They put in the wrong passanger seat. (Seat was from a v6.) That was just fixed yesterday, but the new seat cover is all creased, and looks like heck. I'm not too happy about it.
The driver side fog lamp was burnt out on arrival.

My shaker does work though.
And yes, I am still very bitter. It was the 3rd new mustang I bought in 5 years, and I must say, if I wasn't a die hard mustang fan, I prob wouldn't have put up with the BS and got something else.

However, now that the problems are beginning to be ironed out, I can honestly say I do enjoy the car is a blast to drive.

Not to worry. Sounds like they have finally got around to testing the paints resistance to bird droppings. Should not take much longer.

I want to thank everyone for their posts and comments. I received good news
yesterday from my dealer. My sonic blue GT arrived @ 3:30 pm Thursday. I drove to the dealer to see it. Everyone was right, this is one great car, worth the
8 month wait. I take delivery this Saturday am.
