Does anyone know if Ford has resolved the engine vibration problem that some people were experiencing with the '05, on the '06 V6?

Is this the 1500rpm vib, when in 4th gear auto? I`m thinking its because of motor lugging because tranny wont down shift. I`ve had lots of Ford inline 6`s , they all did this. A lower rear gear would probly help this. What have you got about this?

The quick fix is to run Premium fuel. Ford sets-up these engines to run on the verge of knock in order to maximize their efficiency. In other words, the "pre-knock grumble" is by design, for the sake of a high MPG rating.
In my manual transmission with regular fuel, I must be doing 60 MPH in 5th gear to avoid the grumble. With Premium fuel, I can travel as slow as 50 MPH in 5th gear without grumble, which happens to be about 1,500 RPM. Of course, these minimum speeds are always at light throttle settings.
Premium fuel also has more of the cleaner additives per gallon (like Techron), so that is a little extra bonus.

It's not the engine - its a resonance frequency in the stock exhaust system. If you look underneath, you'll see 2 rubber dampers bolted to the V6 exhaust system near the front and at the back of the OEM muffler. Those are engineering quick fixes that don't really eliminate the problem.

I put a dual exhaust system on my V6 using GT parts. That completely eliminated the vibration.

I agree with 06VistaPony. I had been noticing some vibrations between 1,500 and 3,000 rpms. I installed true duals this week with GT mufflers and an h-pipe and have since not noticed the vibration.

I had the vibration in mine also.. I had a local exhaust guy add an H pipe and a second muffler to my car and it made it worse... Do I need to remove those hangers to take away the vibration? Let me know what I need to do... Its terrible!!!

I took care of this TSB myself, didn't make the problem go away. But it is much more livable now... *smile*

I have the same problem.

I actually think it makes the car feel meaner.

I wonder if the MRT Axle back will cure this?
