08 & 09 Mustang with Factory HID Headlights to Factory Halogen
Hello, I'm inquiring to try and solve a problem I'm having with my headlights. So my mustang came from factory with HIDs which have built in ballasts and I recently put new headlights on the vehicle that only have the option for a normal H13 bulb, I have been looking around the internet for a few days and can not find anything about how to properly setup the connections for a standard halogen or led to the HID connecter that is factory on the vehicle. I have also not been able to find an adapter or HID bulb that will fit with an external ballast. It's a very specific situation and most companies don't specify the types of connectors or uses for it which makes it difficult to order parts. If you can point me in the right direction to solve this problem it would be greatly appreciated, Thank you

H-13 Repair Pigtail
If Memory Serves Back in the day when I was selling the Gt-500 Conversions a lot of the guys did not want to buy Gt-500 HID'S so they would go back to Halogen. It seems to me all they did was cut & splice the Pigtail and they were good to go. The Issue Back in the Day was the Guys who wanted Factory Hid's had to add a Resistor in their Wiring Harness so it would not backfeed. I seem to remember it did not matter when they were going your direction. Maybe Somebody else can confirm this as it's been 12 or so Years since I was doing those conversions. I looked for the old topic on The Wiring but could not find it. May come to me in my sleep! I will advise. That's how it usually works.

an update as of 2025 I’ve had some Instagram DMs about this a few years later. if you have the HIDs from factory all you need to do is cut and splice an h13 pigtail before any ballast and you will have factory style headlights. I believe autozone sells them otherwise they are easy to find and install if you have a working brain.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Was Always The Reason Back in The Day in Regards To Doing a GT-500 Conversion Which Required The Different Shape Housings! Some Just Did Not Want to Pay For Those Spendy Units!
These Days I Would Surmise Some Like The Aftermarket Options Better Which Are Based Off Converting Non Hid Units as another Reason.
Also as an FYI The 08-09 Non GT-500 Hids Passenger Side is Currently Unavailable From FORD. Driver Side is $800.00 to $1200 Range Online.
There is a Used Set on Ebay Now For 2K! So Hard To Find as Well!
