07 Mustang Navigation Option
Does anyone know anything about this and have they actually seen a navigation system in a 07 Mustang GT. I read on another forum a member had ordered this option on a Shelby GT.
Didn't think this was available on the Mustang

it is available next year on the website but if you ask your dealer you can order it on all 2007's but you can order it from KC when he gets some for about $1,980

Where can we get specifics on this option? Mistnang said it replaces the Shakler or something to that effect. I cant even get info from my dealer on the Shelby GT nevermind this Nav system. Id like more info.

Oh well, I know I could have gotten an aftermarket one but it would not be wrapped into the car payment. In addition, I am paying for a lot of the Shelby upgrades so the NAV would be a long time coming if I went aftermarket. Too many other things I want first.

It acually is a Pioneer unit. I beleive FOrd is working with them.
But still better of and cheaper to get Pioneer at your local stereo shop.
Fit and finish be exactly the same.

In point of fact, the Ford NAV system is made by Pioneer, and incorporates much of the technology and many of the functions of the AVIC Z1 - and is also a 6-disc in-dash changer. Only major thing it lacks is voice activation.
As to output, not really sure on that. The Shakers are Shakers, which is to say, completely different setups. The same NAV unit in other Fords is 280 watts of output, I believe, and I think that's RMS, though I could be in error there.
The Shaker 1000, on the other hand, is a bit misleading, as that figure is measured based upon PEAK output. Actual wattage output is considerably less. Either way, the Pioneer/OEM head unit should be MUCH better quality than the Shakers. Having looked at it closely, I can tell you that the ***** and buttons have a much heavier and more "positive" feel than the Shakers.
By the way, there are several other threads around here that discuss the new NAV system in much more detail. Sorry, I don't have time to dig them out right now.

The Shaker 500 sounds good enough for me, and even the subwoofers were a bit overkill IMHO. I originally thought the single CD receiver was not capable of playing MP3s (none of the useless brochures indicated it would play MP3s) but the owner's manual showed a diagram of a single CD/Mp3 receiver!
All of the speakers are probably made in China (the ones in the rear deck are made in China, rated for 25W). I'm not sure if that is 25W RMS or 25W peak.

Looks nice, but LCD is going to be ultra slow in cold weather. I bet Ford uses a heating element... I wonder how long the nav units will last.

The VFD in the Shaker units and most Fords don't have this problem. I heard BMW uses heating elements so the LCD displays aren't sluggish in the winter.
