Yes my T/A is N/A and is fast, but I have had s/c'd cars in the past and LOVE them.
In the next line, you say "I dont care about the supercharger being used back in the day. This is the present, we see a huge trend of motors with more horsepower from a small size, why must we bolt on a S/C to get an extra 100-150 hsp?
Then you contradict yourself and say "Certain vehicles are ok with s/c's, but an all american mustang with a s/c is just a slap in the face to the people who are true to the mustang, like it or not."
Didn't you just mention s/c's used "back in the day"??? Is a 1966 s/c GT350 not a true Mustang?
Why is there no pride in biatch slappin' a vette with an s/c? What about .411 gears? Or 40 series tires? Those aren't even stock on a Mustang, but I bet you think that's allright?
Hey, was it OK for the Shelbys to use fiberglass & aluminum "back in the day" or is that an insult to your "original" pony cars. What cars are OK with a S/C? Why do they get the last laugh?
I want some of the drugs you are on...
Yes, I am having the last laugh........at you
We are talking about pure V8 power. Sure my points aren't great on the old cars because I wasn't around back then. I don't know much of Mustangs great heritage because of my age.
What kind of cars have you owned with S/C? Most (recently as far as I know) S/C cars are usually v-6's. My point is the fact that I don't know of many v8 cars with superchargers, thats all.
As far as fiberglass and aluminum I dont care, didn't even know they used it back in the day. You took this post way to serious my friend.
My main point was the fact that I would like to see a Cobra without a S/C and still have the big horsepower figures. Thats it. Glad you made your many points. Your last laugh and drug line was uncalled for.

You gotta know your history before you call something "not original equipment", that's all.

It is ok, I was probably a little out of line myself with all my comments. I just have a huge wishlist for the future cobra, but it doesn't matter. SVT is going to do what SVT wants. The more I thought about somethings the more I realized I was wrong, like HID's in a mustang. I like them, but not sure they are for this particular car yet. Although I still like the t-tops I know they are not making a come back anytime soon.
Who knows, maybe I will get used to the whine of a S/C.....

The facts on the "Mustang Cobra GT" This is what it's called. As of right now, it will have 410 hp. IR susp. Auto and 6 speed man. It will come out as a 2007 model. Again as of right now, it will look alot like the concept 2005 mustang. Hood slot ect... I build them here in Flat Rock and "know" people. I can't wait. I canceled my 05 order so I could get a Cobra.

I tell ya what...Ford could also consider using the Ford GT's 5.4liter engine, but i know that N/A power is more preferred...even with me, but that'd be cool if ford made a run of Ford GT 5.4 liter stangs, huh?

I hope you are either wrong or lying to us. I appreciate your willingness to share your insider info, I just hope you are wrong. Maybe that is a S/E and not Cobra. We are expecting a minimum of 450. We realize the power will be underrated, but, the last one was rated at 390. 20 hp bump just ain't enough. I at least hope it can be uncorked to upper 400s/low 500s with simple mods.
Does your source know which engine?

Actually, I wouldn't mind those specs. I loved the concept -- so if it looks like that it could be great. 410hp is nice bump over the regular (especially if that is N/A but built to be modded). They could still have some monster Shelby at 500hp+.... but I'm hoping 410 means they can actually lighten the weight a bit, move the engine back, and improve the handling. (Not that it is bad -- just better is better). Also the torque matters as much/more. How big a bump there?

Will this be one of the first cobra's to be offered with an Automatic tranny then? Yah, what engine, 4.6 or 5.4? S/C or N/A?

I called SVT a while back (when the SVT is closing rumors were spreading). The guy on the phone said "significant increase." I don't see 20 hp/tq as all that significant. You can gain that with a CAI.
Either way, I am about to bust waiting and speculating on what is happening with it. It has been a long 2 years and going to be another long 2 years waiting for it.

ATX on a Cobra would be o.k., but it really won't be that fun to drive. I wanna be able to have fun with the 400-500+hp that the new Cobra will have, so 6-spd MTX is the only way to go. If I wanted to have a fast car with an auto to go cruisin around, I'd just settle for a S/C GT.

- Wedge the GT's blown 5.4 into the engine bay...detuned to a mere 500bhp. One of the head hanchos at Ford's powertrain development did say something to the effect of "you didn't think that we developed that engine for just one car did you?"
- Ditch the two piece driveshaft for a stronger one piece.
- IRS only, no solid axle option. This Cobra's gonna be a fat piggy, and if the IRS saves a couple of pounds, I'm all for it.
- Keep it under 3,700lbs.
- Bigger brakes.
- Keep the T56, maybe offer an optional SMG.
- Lower it 1"...let me repeat that...LOWER IT
- Use 18" wheels and Pilot Sports
- Offer heavily bolstered seats (think Viper seats) with space for 5 point harness.
- Yank some of the sound absorbing material out.
- Get the hood, front fascia, rear rascia, taillamps, and exhaust exists as close to the look of the concept as possible. Ford had to tone down the the concept to make it to production for the mass market V6 and GT, but on the lower production models, go wild.

Didn't Ford say they were aiming their sites at BMW's M series with the new Cobra? If that is so, then keep in mind that the new M5 (a four door sedan) has a 5.0-liter V10, fitted with individual throttle butterflies, variable valve timing, dual-flow stainless-steel exhaust system and a stratospheric 8250-rpm redline. The engine delivers 507 hp at 7750 rpm and 383 lb-ft at 6100 rpm. The engine is mated to a third-generation, seven-speed version of BMW’s sequential manual gearbox (SMG), now boasting 20 percent faster shift times. With 11 different shift programs, six in manual mode and five in automatic, the driver can tailor the gearbox’s action to suit the conditions.
If BMW M series power and quality is their goal, then I doubt they will be getting rid of any sound proofing material. I just want them to remember who can afford this car, who are generally of an age who passionately desire the styling cues of Shelby's 1967/68 GT500 Cobras.
