My local dealership that I've purchased a couple cars from in the past has made a management decision on the 06 Mustang GT's. GT's can not be ordered using x-plan. Have others found this to be the case? Or do I just need to look around and find a dealership that will allow it? Anyone know of any dealers within 500 miles of Minneapolis allowing x-plan. Please let me know.

Ordered an '06 GT vert on X-Plan in Norfolk VA.

It's up to the dealer. Your local dealer still has to honor the warranty, so he loses the sale but still has to fix it. If you have to drive an hour to save a couple thousand bucks, it's worth it don't you think?

I know....you might not think it's much help, since I'm in Virginia; my point is, you should be able to find a dealer near you that will accept X-Plan, so don't give up!

I ran into several dealers that would not deal with the X-plan around here, MD/PA. I tried my small, local dealer and they would deal. I wonder if it is because we are out in the country and the first dealerships I'd talked with were closer to the city?

Start calling around. It didn't make sense to me either... isn't a sale a sale?

I guess not anymore!

Just got my VOC faxed to me, with pricing:

GT vert premium, IUP, ICAP, wheel locks, side airbags, Shaker 1000 64E fanblades (will change to 64W if they are available before I'm serialized)

$32.8k X-Plan

I'm not at work today, so my fax is waiting for me when I get in tomorrow.

Keep looking! You'll find a dealer to accept X-Plan!

It's special pricing. In my case, a good friend is a retired Ford employee, and he got me an X-Plan PIN#. Basically, it allows me to get a fair price without any haggling. I can't remember the formula off-hand, but it ends up being fairly close to invoice price.

I believe the formula for X-plan is

Invoice + 4% + $150

What they fail to mention is "invoice price '" is actually invoice+dealer holdback, which is a difference of about $300-$500 more, if my memory serves me correctly.

Basically, its Three plans set up for current / former Ford employees and their families.

I got mine via Friends and Family of Ford Employees where a Ford employee sponsored me.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to use it when I bought my mustang. Oh well, maybe next time.

From my calculations - Holdback + invoice is about a $1000 difference - all depends on what options you get.

Dusty 1 - PM me when you pick up your DORA w/ pricing - I'd be curious to know what the price is on the 64E's.

Will do. I saw a thread that listed the MSRP at about $825/ $735 dealer cost (ISELLFORD):

You must have talked to Apple Valley Ford, I did too and got the same story. I also talked to Metropolitan in Eden Prairie and got the same story from them.

I'm going to call around some more but I've got a bad feeling in this neck of the woods we're not going to fair too well. Might have to call that dealer in Michigan or the one in Indiana.

X-plan on a Mustang works out to approximately factory invoice. The 4% is the commission that Ford pays the dealership for selling the car for X-plan pricing.

When I get in to work tomorrow I'll let you know. I'm not sure what the MSRP was, since I wasn't at work today to receive the fax, but I was told it came in by a coworker.

I work for a Ford dealership in Lacrosse wi, which is only 3 hours from the cities. I think I can help you out with your xplan orders. Email me at kdulek@dahlauto.com for more info.

If you cannot find a local dealership that will honor the X, A, or D plans, many dealerships will also drop-ship their vehicles for around $300 to the closest Ford Dealer.

In other words, find a Ford dealer anywhere in the continental US that will honor X plan and offers drop-shipping, order your Mustang for X-Plan pricing, and for around $300 shipping have it delivered to your nearest Ford dealer.

You get the added bonus of seeing the priceless look on the dealer's face when they deliver your X-plan Mustang that they were too cheap to sell you. They have to prep and wash it too and call you when it is ready for pickup!
