My friend who who works at the rear axle plant said that all 200,000 05 stangs have been ordered (by dealers).
I 'm guessing that the dealers don't have firm orders on all of these yet but are anticipating the huge demand.
If the volumes can be increased with week-end overtime , I'm sure that Ford will build all they can.

That makes no sense whatsoever.

They won't have to work overtime, that plant can put out 180,000 units in about six months. At full output. :flag2:

But they wouldn't place all the orders at once. at least we never did at my dealer.

There is no way

maybe your buddy's company has all 200,000 axles ordered... but there is no way that so many cars would be ordered up.

I think your friend is mistaken because the dealership that I ordered mine from said that most people aren't leaving deposits because they don't have prices yet

Some where in here is a quote from someone who knows the plant that the '05 is being built at. It does not have the capacity to do more that 180k. It works two shifts and then shuts down for maintence. There is no overtime or weekends. the machines physically can't be pushed that hard or everything comes to a crashing halt.

I agree that the axels are on order.

Most likely what your friend really means is that Ford has requested the maximum number of rear axles they can build cars for. In other words they anticipate they will sell as many Mustangs as they can make. This doesn't mean they are all ordered already, it just means that Ford thinks they will be.

Before I tread to the nearest "Blue Oval" dealer,

Just what is the MSRP for a GT? I've searched the forum and can't figure any pricing structures.

I mean, the order guide lists items but what about "ball park" figures?

Or do I blindly drop $500 and wait to get ???

(wants Mineral Grey or Satinsilver, 5spd, GT premium package, Delete spoiler)

Anyone? Buehler?

Covered in the FAQ:

Basically, blindly drop $500 and wait.

One school of thought is to price a 2004 similiar to what you want and add 6%, but it's still just a guess.

RTFaqM.

So $25K-$31K.

Likely, I bet the dealers go "Miata" on the pricing.

"You want list???"
"Uh, its a great car. Look at the lines"
"I'll be back next Spring."
"There won't be any left."
"Cya..."

So, that means the Convertible will be $29K -$35K, right?

I'd be happy with $28K-$30K for a GT. But not over $30K. Not unless its a Cobra or SVO.

Thanks for the pointer. Last place I look

Probably right around 30K for the GT. A loaded GT right now with Mach 1000, Auto, etc is around 28.5K (and a thousand or so more gets you a Mach -- go figure). And yes, the Convertible GT will be anywhere from 30K to 34K probably, but it's all just an educated guess.

If you concerned about the price, I wouldn't worry about ordering. Wait for the spring. There'll be plenty to go around. Or you can order one later in the summer when we DO know pricing.

And, I wouldn't pay over sticker.

Lock her up, eh, Kevin? I agree... this post is pointless. Everyone knows that ain't possible that 200,000 have been ordered. Hey, kevin... I tried to ask you this a while back in another post, but while I got you here and we ar talking about orders... when is the day that the dealers will be calling Ford to actually buy the orders? You said week 24, I believe. Do you have a specific date?
