I surrender, and hereby let it be known I now have a full blown case of car dealer phobia.

and when I pick myself up off the floor from the inevitable I just got.... I will own an 05.But of course only with a nice bank draft in hand before I go in the hades known as the ford dealership.
I've got dealership April-phobia

Just kidding [/b][/quote]
Don't worry- I got scared off , I needed a long shower from all the double talk and slimyness. I am in not such desperate need of a mustang that I must sacrifice my soul to attain it. I knew "invoice price" smelled fishy.

This is why Wachovia/STB was invented y'all!

I just got done test driving a pony package torch red V6 04, and I have to say that it was pretty darn nice. I know the 05s will be a bigger engine, and thats what I really like, but anyone think that the 04 is just as cool as the 05? I suppose its hard to tell since I havent seen the 05 yet.
Sounds like you don't have much experience with classic Mustangs. If you like the '04s then go with them. You can save tons of cash this way. Personally I would not be writing this, much less being here, if '05s were from the same generation as the '04s. IMHO since 1974 all the Mustangs were rebadged Mavericks, Granadas and Probes. Again, nothing wrong with any of this if you never lived through the golden age of the classics.

i love the current style as well. like i said in another post, i especially prefer the current interior to the 2005
Couldn't agree more, except for the seats. They have always stinked. They give no lateral support whatsoever, the leather cracks after a week and the useless headrest is actually really dangerous when you get rearended.

The 05 is a big improvement in that department, better headrests and better quality leather from the look of it. But the lateral support is still not what you'd expect from a performance car. My C-class Renault still has better seats

I can't say I dis-like any style of Mustang. All had their good and bad points. I just want the hp that the Stang has been lacking for years.

I like them all. Even my 76 Mustang (my first car - lots of good memories). Of course I Found it On the side of the Road Dead a few months after I sold it.

I had a 95 Mustang so therefore it was helpful in the decision making b/w and 04 and an 05. I drove an 04 GT when ordering my 05 GT. The 04 was nice too, I still liked it alot. But after seeing the 05, I was convinced that would be my next car.

If i were looking at buying either a V6 or GT, i would not even look at an '04 at this point. The '04's are great cars, but i don't think they compare in any area (especially the interior) to the '05.

I am personally waiting on a SE model in a year or so. But, if i were in the market right now, the choice would be to wait for a '05 GT or buy a '04 Cobra. At least in that comparison, they each have there high points. The Cobra has the power and ease of modifying advantage. The '05 has every other advantage. (Especially the interior, did i mention that? )

I have owned many Mustangs ('79, two '89's, '94, '97), but i think the '05 will raise the bar very high in terms of quality and value. So, to answer the original question: Yes, i like the '04, but it doesn't compare to the '05 at all, unless you are talking about the Cobra's power.

The SN-95's look great especially the current GT's, Mach 1's and Cobra.

The most important factor is probably money. If this is very important to you, you might do yourself a favour by buying a current version since there are amazing deals to be had!

However (and I tell everyone in the same situation this), see the 2005 V6 or GT in person FIRST before you buy the current version. Pictures do not come close to doing it justice.

See them both and then make a decision IMO.

There was a great looking 04 Cobra at the Ford Fan Appreciation show yesterday and hardly anyone was looking at it. It is still an awsome car and I would love to own one

I looked at an 04 Mach 1, but the interior looked just like my 95. I figured I would order the 05 cause I just hate the SN95 interior(to probe looking for me). No offense to any SN95 fans, just my likes and dislike. So please don't torch me...lol

You won't get any argument from me on the interior needing an overhaul. I don't hate it or anything, it is like a old comfortable shoe at this point. But, the key word is "old". I love the look of the '05 interior and expect the fit and finish to be at a much higher level then the SN-95's.

the 04's are nice, in fact me and my wife was just fixing to look into buying one , then I seen the 05, and seeing one in person at a local show really sealed the deal. The pics of the new stang are nice but seeing it in person is so much better. I personally think its gonna be pretty sweet to pull up next to someone that just bought an 04 in the new stang B)
In fact, on the weekends when I drive my 05 gt...I'll be looking for 04's just so I can slide up next to at a red, and gun the engine waiting for the green!!! Then when I get a green I'm outta there!

I think the 99-04 GT's look great. I like the aggressive look they have with the hood and side scoops. I have a 01 Black GT that looks tough during the night when some nearby lights reflect off it.

Well, I hated the 99's when they came out but they grew on me, especially when they added the Hood and Side Scoops. I liked the 35 Anniversary, and the Bullitt and I thought I was gonna be blown away by the Mach 1, but I was kinda let down when I finnaly saw one. But I do Love the 03-04 Cobra's.

I really did like the 99-03's untill I saw the 05. I'm, not bashing anyone or their ride, but since I have seen the 05, the 99-04 just looks like it's proportions are all wrong. It looks like it's sitting on a Chassis that's too small for it. And it just looks Cheap! I don't know how else to explain it.

The Clincher though was getting to spend 20 minutes sitting in an 05 at Legends Field, here in Tampa! all I can say is WAIT TILL YOU CAN SIT IN AN 05! The 05 is so much better than pictures can show.

The quality of the materials used are light years ahead of the 04, if you get to sit in an 05 and an 04 side by side, there will be no question which car gives you more Bang for your Buck! This is really a World Class Ride! Not to mention the amount of room in it.

I'm a big guy, as I've stated here before, I'm 6'4, and 385 lb's, and I had about 5-6 inches between my knees and the dash, 5-6 inches of space between my head and the roof, and last but not least, I could sit up straight and the door panel wasn't pushing on my shoulder like a 94-04. I have to sit leaning to my right and rest my arm on top of the door in a 94-04 which is not very comfortable.

And not to be forgotten, the 05 is STUNNING when you see it in real life! It looks kinda Futuristic yet Retro at the same time, not to mention Very well made. I can't help but think every time I see an Infinity G35 Coupe, that the 05 Mustang looks every bit as well designed and built as the Infinity!

By now you have already guessed that I don't like the 04's any more. I'm sorry, but once you get the chance to get behind the wheel of an 05 you'll understand.

My 03 GT vert seats are awesome compared to the Jeep Wrangler that was my daily driver for the last 3 years. Feels like a nice leather recliner to me,lol. I was going to hold out for the 05 but broke down and found a fantastic deal on a new 03 GT Centennial Ed. I figure around 06-07 when the SE's come out I'll be ready to trade her in. By that time the bugs (if any at all) will be worked out. 3 years isn't a long time...especially when you have kids. Time seems to fly by!

I thought the question was about appearance, not performance.
