I think it still looks just a little bit better than the new one. The designers could've done better with the 05,

I don't have the option of considering the new Z cause if I got a car with no back seat for the kiddies, I'd be sleeping in it.

I'm thrilled to hear of the financing offer. I'll look at my credit union too, but my credit union never offered me 2.9 for 60 months!

This wasn't something I expected so soon on the new model. Guess it's true and Ford is reading what you guys say here.

So for the Ford guy out there: Notice how many times you see us swear we won't pay an extra $5K just because it's a new model? And we're the rabid, obsessed fans that want this car more than some vital organs. I was at the local dealership the week the new T-Bird came in and the guy wanted me to pay $50K for it. No one took him up on it then and no one is doing it for a new Mustang. Play fair, or this won't be pretty.

Oh my GOD...I don't believe it. Someone who actually thinks like I do! Seriously, IMO, Japanese cars fall into one or both categories: Ugly or boring, so there is no comparison. It doesn't matter if it puts out 400rwhp and will run 11.5's in the quarter off the showromm floor - it's probably ugly. B) 'Nuff said.

Good Good news...

I guess I won't be pillaged on interest then
why would they They would just sell themselves out of loans if its not competative with credit unions. We are SO spoiled on rates right now, I remember when 9.9% rocked, on HOUSES

Its amazing how brainwashed American consumers are on Japanese product. On Mustang however, Its not uncommon to loose 70%+ of Mustang shoppers to cars you would not consider competition, like: accord coupe, sebring, eclipse, audi tt, celica, solara, even beetles and minis. Customers come to shop Mustang FIRST for a sporty car. its current ergos are the problem "I'd LOVE to get a mustang its just not comfortable". With that equation taken out and a ubersexy body, a LOT of buyers will return. I think Ford underestimates this. They seem to be only assimilating the Stang with other rwd sports cars.

I guarantee more then HALF of the customers that own Solaras and Sebrings test drove a Mustang first. I was VERY used to Mustangs for years, after being out of one for several months now, I cant believe how uncomfortable it is when I drive them now. I totally understand why they have the lowest closing ratio of anything we sell. And believe me, NONE of those people care what type of rear suspension or 1/4 mile ET's. How many people do you think that put race fog lights and British flags on the roofs actually club race their Minis?..... They want flash and comfort cheap. Just like this time exactly 40 years ago. This car will be a SMASH. It will be just like the kids in the movie The Hudsucker Proxy when they see the kid with the hula hoop. Once they roll, they will FLY out of dealers.

Who cares. I dont know what you mean by uncomfortable (Amenities?, ride?) I still dont like them. If you consisder me brainwashed just because I dont like what you like then im glad. Right now I dont feel like writing an essay to explain. So EACH TO HIS OWN!!
Now... I'm done.

Dude, I work 80 hours a week SELLING FORDS. I could make $60,000 MORE a year selling Toyotas, I even got offered a $10,000 hiring bonus the other day by a dealer. B) I' be at Ted Britt Ford in Chantilly Va from 9-9 tomorrow if you need me, and Saturday, and Monday, and Tuesday........Ive talked to hundreds of Mustang shoppers, I know where they go and why. This car will bring them back.

One last thing. The MUSTANG IS NOT THE ONLY AMERICAN CAR! You are basically basing it on the mustang. I'm actually talking about american car's in general, that i prefer.
Ok now we all understand eachother, hopefully.

Oh I'm pretty hard-core American-car-guy. I have asked thousands of people shopping a Jap car as well and they just say "because they're better". Ask them why and you have grown professionals talking like 5 year olds, "cause they are"- What makes them better? "They just are".....It is quite mind-numbing after a while.

kevinb - you da man ! I appreciate your posts out here. Right on, and its even better since you have the dealer perspective. I also agree with your logic on the Mustang buyer. Since the end of last year I have been in the market for a car, and had been seriously considering a Honda. I had been blind to Mustangs, until I stumbled across the '05 here on Brad's site. It's an entirely new ballgame. I test drove an '04 Mach 1 to see what the Mustang is like. Sweet is the word that describes it best. The same day I drove an Acura TL. A perfect car by all accounts, but it is totally different .. it cannot match the feeling of sitting behind the growling engine, in a chassis that makes you feel like you are coupled to the road. The only negative was the tight seating in the front, and the awkward shifter. Ford has made an excellent move by fixing this and other things with the '05. I agree with you that they have a winner on their hands. I hope that Ford sets some records with their orders on this new car, and I also hope they don't try to take advantage of us as consumers (and partners) in their new success.

I feel so alone.

On my 350 forums I have to defend the 05. On this forum I have to defend the Z. ANd somewhere in the middle I got caught Defending an RX-8! Can't we all just get along? Plus with globalization of the auto industry the American Vs Japanese VS German debate is really pointless.

 I don't want the new Mustang to fly out the doors. It'll be that many more cars on the road that look like mine

The Z is not that ugly, it's a decent looking car from the front and side. Those taillights are hideous though. I really like the Z not to mention how the upper models kick you ****, your dads **** and possibly your grandfathers ****. So what if a mustang can beat it in a quarter, Zs are track cars not dragsters. How many times in your life will your fate depend on traveling 1,230 feet faster then the other guy. Very few.
Also there are a lot of people who have considered mustangs but went with solaras, camrys or whatever. I was one of them until the 05' came out.
