how many 05 mustangs do you think that they will sell

I am talking about 1 year sales from their introduction
date at the dealers.

Do you believe that they will sell more than 250 thousand
cars?

They aren't making that many. I think they are planning on making somowhere around 180,000.

Remember the Mustang is sharing the AAI line with the Mazda 6. IIRC, max production for the 2005 Mustang can be about 193,000 units.

They would have to convert another plant to increase production, like they did with Metuchen and San Jose back in the 60's. I do not think we'll see that happen. Just my opinion.

In a small article in my local paper last week they said that ford expects to sell every last one and that sales are up 16%.

Well that would be logical. A new body style comes out so people wait it out and buy the 2005’s.

180,000 sure does sound better than the 15,000 GTO's that were sold.......

Why do people even compare the 2 cars... The Mustang is in a class way ahead of the GTO.

I don't see anyone comparing the two cars but you.

Maybe I should be more specific next time for you. But if we though the GTO was better we would be called The GTO source. Since we aren’t I think we have chosen our side. There was no reason to bring the GTO up in this thread. Maybe now you understand, I was well aware that someone once compared them.

Based upon how many they are currently making and how quickly it seems that any currently ordered cars are going to arrive to their patiently waiting owners, I guess somewhere between 250 and 400 cars.

No offense to anyone on this board who works at the plant, but get off this darn forum and go build us some cars!!!

Both of you are probably correct. 2 #s get confused a lot.

1. US sales - probably 180,000

2. Total vehicle production, which would include Canada and other export sales - probably ~193,000

Ford sold 369,936 Mustangs in 1979. They won't come close to that because back then there were two assembly plants (Dearborn and San Jose) and the market was not so segmented as today-it was the 7th best selling car that year.
