You know how Harley guys always give that wave to each other on the road? I've noticed that a lot of 05 GT owners give the thumbs up to each other.

I took a small road trip to Houston to see some friends. I got close enough to 3 other GT's to see the drivers and they all gave me the thumbs up. On in the Piney Point area (I think, maybe Memorial) driving a black GT vert. Then another on Welch St. driving a black GT coupe. The last one, I don't really know where I was, but it was *another* black GT.

So now when I see another 05+ Stang, I give the thumbs up. Is this common with any of yall?

Btw, I do it to the V6 owners and they never wave or thumbs up back...

This is NOT to be meant as offensive to anyone!

I think that most people who purchase the GT are enthusiasts, while many (not all) of the people purchasing the v6 are buying it as an alternative to another car - say a Sebring, etc. Of course, there are many v6 enthusiasts as well, that explains the 10% that do wave back. And most v6'rs on this site would fall into that 10%.

Just my opinion, as ignorant as it may be.

It's not just 2005 - I get (and give) thumbs up, nods, or waves, basically whenever I see another mustang, although of course not everyone does it. I get it a lot from classic mustangs, which is cool.

My best friend and me are both 05 V6 owners and we both have or had 66 Mustangs. We are both Mustang Super freaks and we give waves and thumbs up to every cool Mustang that goes by regardless of the year and status. Doesn’t make me any less a fan because I bought a 6 is it?

Must be a location thing or something. Or just maybe the people who drive V6s where you live don't like you. J/K. I know some times I don't see the thumps up until it's too late to return the gesture. You come to Charleston, SC and I'll give ya props for your ride. I love seeing them on the road.

You’re going to find sooner or later there are going to be probably more V6 enthusiast then GTs because they're selling allot more of them. I’m still going to give thumbs up to a GT that passes by because they’re a Mustang plain and simple.

They are the coolest car ever made in my book :headbang:

No, having a 6 does not make you less of an enthusiast. As I clearly stated in my post, you're in the 10% (not my figure) that is as excited about the car as many GT owners.
And yes, it's likely that there are/will be more v6 enthusiasts that GT owners, but it's my belief, that the percentage will be lower.
And also yes, they're the coolest cars made

I agree that not having the abilty to pay for a GT (and all costs that come of owning it) doesn't make someone more of an enthusiast or a better person, which I tend to see in public, not so much here.

But that bolded part saved you

With that said I get nothing around here(V6&GT), except all the fox body crowd are pretty cool in my area. Subculture may be a bit weaker here for the 05ers
My spirit of giving thumbs up to alot of the mustangers hasn't died yet.

I would agree in general to the GT - V-6 stand.
When we were in Florida in the spring I saw maybe 20 different v-6's.
Talked to a few of them. A couple were older (50's) mom types. Most of them were younger girsl (teens to early 20's college types) They said they thought the car was cute so they bought one. These are not the typical enthusiasts that we see on the forums.

My general rule of thumb is to give thumbs up to just about any mustang that is obviously someones pride and joy. You do get that pony that has 8 people in it and the **** end is sitting on the ground and has seen every gravel back road with every piece of body trim detached or falling off. Those types I will not initiate a thumbs up, but if they do I will respond accordingly.

Any classic or antique I see will also get a

I just appreciate other peoples appreciation for the classics no matter what brand.

I was driving around the other day and saw 2 mustang owners give each other a thumbs up. Looked like an 05 and a mid 90s model.

VERY few (even GTs) give me the thumbs up.

I think around here because there are so few 05s/06s that these non-enthus. types....feel your stealing their thunder....

Oh well, can't please everyone...

I don't know if its 05GT-O.C.D.'s non-enthusiast crowd or Boomer's stealing thunder crowd... I hardly ever get a wave back.

And there's a TON of Mustangs around here.

I routinely try to share a or with any Mustang I see. Whether or not they respond is up to them. Most do come back.

Also, I'll give a honk and a to most any other neat vehicle, including a spotless black '67 Camaro SS last week. That Camaro had been lovingly worked on.

I don't much care for the arguements about different makes and models. If you really like it, work hard on it and take good care of it, I say, "More power to you!"

It's another neat car I get to see and enjoy!

Here on long island it seems that the majorey of the people have stangs because they look cool. Most 96-04 owners barely give me a glance, the few 05's i've seen so far i've always given a thumbs up, always got a reply, even from the 04/05 Ferrari that I waved at as well.

The other day at a light a guy my age in an 03/04 GT talked to em about ym car, he liked it and everything. I feel bad because I didn't know he was ina stang until the light turned so I didn't get to compliment him on his car.

I always give and get waves or thumbs up from the S197 and the early year drivers.

Don't get much from the SN95's at all even if I initiate the signal.

If I spot a fellow '05er, I definitely wave at them, but hardly ever get a wave back... I think most of the people that have the new Mustang around here have it cause they like the style and not because they want to be a part of the whole Mustang culture... Oh well, it still doesn't stop me from waving...
