[COLOR=#0000FF] Hi' All, Newbie here..... Long time lurker, first time poster. I saw a video not to long ago on the Bon forums of a silver 05 Stang doing a burnout at some dealership... I remember reading it was a car given to someone to do for the SEMA Show?

I cant find the clip now, anyone know where i could view it or get it? If you have it please email me if nothing else! ford3242@yahoo.com

Thanks

I've changed my mind about burnouts

Call me cynical, but why is that cool?? I can see the point of a super fast take-off, but have never seen the point in a proper burnout. All you are doing is stressing every point of the drivetrain, stressing a new engine by keeping it at redline, stressing the gearbox..........
I have done a couple in my time, but I wouldn't stand around and watch other people do it.............

"Oh, did you see he managed to keep his wheels spinning for 30 seconds??"

"Yeah, he's my hero"

maybe I am finally growing up

I never really got the whole burnout thing either. I did it a couple of times in my 92 5.0, but never really got any sense of satisfaction from it.

If you like to buy tires, they're fun. Goodyear loves em!

If I were this guy's tire dealer, I'd be ordering my 60" plasma screen HDTV 'bout now :-)

I would also have to agree with burnouts not being all they are hyped up to be. But I would have to disagree on them hurting the car. Sure, the tires. But, I am pretty sure the Mustang was made to handle being kept at redline for a good while.

yeah, i would hope my 25000 car could handle redline for less than a minute. if not, maybe i need to consider something else. i dont do it often, definitely not around show cars. but when my tires are worn. the day before i get new ones. i get the last of my moneys worth of the remaining tread!

Well since I've had some burnout experience, (see website for videos), burnouts are not acctually that good for the car, but in a well maintained vehicle, its not as bad. The problem is, you stress mainly the brakes and the drivetrain. Also you can overheat a car really easy since you are close to stationary (in my case sitting still for 1+min) and no air moving through the radiator/engine bay while running it at 6,000+ rpm.

For a proper burnout, please get a line lock, it makes it so much less stressful on the car by having the front brakes locked and the rear free.
