Just wondering, do you think we'll finally see some magazine articles, previews, first drives or, heaven forbid, road tests of the '05 in the September issues soon to hit the streets???

So much speculation on so many things, I'd like to start hearing the real deal.

Rhumb,

my guess is that the Mustang will be the October cover story on all the magazines.

I would guess the next issue of MT will have it.
This months is the C6.
I think the mustang will be on the cover next month....as it is suppose to be on the shelf in Sept....but we all know what happened before

The magazine hits home subscribers a tad early, and we get to read it..

We all know the Mustang won't start being built until September, production models that is. Now what good would it do to review or road test a car that isn't even a production model in August for the September magazine? Especially when they can get their hands on a production model sometime in September or October for real world production model testing...!!!

To be honest, I would bet more on November to December for the earliest reviews, then probably February for road tests and real world comparisons.

If they come earlier, I will be happily surprised, but I'm just being realistic as to every new model we see reviewed and tested in the mags.

Ford has already produced a few in a pre full production run to test out problems test cars quality checks training of employees etc. Job1 is full production run full supplier inventory corrections of any little problems discovered in preproduction line test.

Exactly, what they are building NOW...is exactly what we get...
The only difference?

They'll crush theirs after...
They will be the same car, with the same engine, with the same..You get the idea

Problem with that is magazine lags. It takes 2-3 months at least for something to go into print. Reviews in 97% of magazines (not only car, but PC, video games, and others come to mind) are done on pre-production versions of the item so the review hits the newstands just before the item hits the streets.

Several mags/journalists have already test drove the 05. Many more will test drive it in August.

However, what I know is that Ford has an "embargo" on reviews of the 05 till at least September.

Therefore, I would guess that the earliest review would be in the October issue in stores at the beginning of September or in the November issue appearing in October.

Looks like it will be the October issues for the first 05 Stang test drive articles.

I just got September C&D today and I haven not been able to find a single word about the 2005 Stang in the rag. The cover story is about the 2005 Vette. I haven't read it, but they appear to be VERY impressed with it. The cover says 12.7 sec quarter mile.

Of course if I got my Sept C&D on Aug 3, it will be early Sept when the Oct issues start showing up. So it may be possible that Ford will not want the 05 Stang in the car rags until early October (Nov issues) to match when the 05s start showing up at the dealers.

i ordred an 05 mustang (redfire gt of course) and the dealership just called me last week to tell me my car will be delivered some time in september. the first date I had heard of was posted on one of these forums and that carswere goin to hit dealerships around sept. 27. salesman also gave me the vin number for my car. only thing is that the price guides have yet to come out so i have no idea how much it will cost. Ford say's it will only cost 3 to 5 percent oretan the current gt. anybody who has any thought as to what this may all mean please email me at area5179@aol.com

Congrats on your order ! Sounds like it went well, and you will be getting one of the first allocated to your dealer. We all are awaiting the final pricing, but your estimate of a 3-5% increase sounds reasonable and is similar to other posts out here and elsewhere. Did you get a VIN number ? Just curious, many members out here have been given VIN's as their order is processed by Ford.

just re-read my oct 04 mustang enthusiast issue which I received around 8-1-04, says "our behind-the-wheel coverage of the '05 Mustang will be presented in our december issue. Subscribers will get the early read. Stay tuned..." So the math tells me I'll be receiving that issue on or abouts 10-1-04. So it's probably safe to say most rags will drop late-late sept or early oct!

One thing is for certain. The mag reviews WILL be out before anyone can buy a Mustang. On a car as important as this, not only to Ford but to the whole heritage of the American car, every mag that is late will be stinking air, instead of Dino juice. I figure it will be the October issues, in your mailbox mid to early Sept.
