Count me among those who'd like to keep it. Sure, the hood is closed most of the time, but the engine has a more finished look with that cover in place. And when it's not there, is there a running pony anywhere else under the hood?

I think it should be there. A while back on BON there was an article about how J Mays wants to bring back emblems that are directly related to products, like the prancing horse, the thunderbird logo, etc... He was really digging how much publicitiy and positive attentione DCX was getting with their Hemi badging. There was a memo within ford to start this up again, and it listed that the Explorer, Escape, and 500 were on the list to get these names. I think they should do this with the 4.6 from the 05. Make it the mustang engine and bolt on some kind of emblem that shows this. It would be kinda cool to buy a F-150 and have it say mustang engine or something. Ford played around with this on the "Ford 49" concept. The emblem on the front fender was a sillhouette af the thunderbird logo, with the words, "powered by" punched into it. This was a totally cool little decal that made it feel that much cooler. People with these new hemi cars feel cool knowing their car says hemi. I think, the least ford could do would be to offer this kind of decal under the hood for those of us who look at these things. Why does ford have to be pressured into such minimalist, easy to understand, desired decisions????
