'05 convertible top problem

Hi everyone. I have a 2005 GT convertible that is having an unusual problem with the convertible roof: I can't raise it. It isn't a motor problem, because it starts to come up just fine. However, it is now striking the plastic trim parts on both sides of the rear seats..it's as if the entire roof assembly has shifted forward. If I try to raise it any more than about half way, it hits those plastic parts and has even bent them a bit, and would cause further damage if I keep trying to raise the roof more. So, it has stayed in the down position for about 2 months now. I'm dreading how much it is going to cost to get this fixed, and am wondering if anyone else has seen this happen or has any insight. thanks!

No but I can take some. Not now because I'm about to crash, but I will do that tomorrow if possible, and post it/them.

Ok, here is the first pic. When the roof is raised up to about halfway, the supports start to mash into the plastic trim around the sides of the back seats where the seat belt shoulder harnesses come out...

My uploads are failing. Maybe the files are too large? Still trying to figure this out...

Ah, success. Ok, in the first pic, you can see how the roof only goes up about halfway before the supports begin to strike the plastic parts next to the back seat. The 2nd pic with the top down shows how there is now a gap between the top and the trunk, as if the whole assembly has shifted forward. It happened all of a sudden, too. It was working fine, then this. Any ideas?

It looks like the entire rack for the top has come loose. I would look into the lower area and see if you can locate the main mount to the body and see if it shifted. Might have to pull the rear seat and side panels to get to it.

This shows the frame below the top material...look in the lower corner of the catalog page.
