Using my G-Tech meter, I made 2 consecutive runs from 0-60 early this morning. I am modding the car as soon as my Throttle Body gets here, so I wanted to see what it would do in stock form to compare later on.
My first 0-60 came in at 5.04 seconds, and I did not brake too hard so I did not get an accurate 60-0 distance when I stopped.
The second run was in the same place, but coming from the opposite direction. Again, 0-60 clocked in at 5.04 seconds, exactly the same time as in the first run. That is the first time I've ever had a car run the exact same time back-to-back. I did a pretty good stop that time and the 60-0 was in 122 feet.
I would like to run a quarter-mile with it, but I don't have a place that is flat for that long of a distance that I can be sure that I am staying out of sight of the police. Hitting over 100 MPH on a surface street is just not something I would feel comfortable doing without having someone on the lookout. May have to take a long trip to the 1/4 mile strip one day to see what it can do!
And by the way, my car is a 2006 with the automatic transmission, and about 2100 miles on the clock.
Next time I will take my video camera along for the ride!

Heck, Nissan Altima TV ads (3.5 V6, 260HP?) are saying 5.6 0-60.
These figure are always on a closed course and with a race driver, with a car in peak condition, tuned properly and broken in. But I think 4.9 in a Mustang GT is doable: turn of the TC and OD (if auto).
The funny thing about the new Mustang is it doesn't feel that fast. No drama: 100 mph feels like 50 mph. Is it too civilized? ;-)

0 - 60 in 4.9 is certainly in the realm of possibility for the Mustang GT with a manual transmission. It would take a good driver and a sticky track.
