Only had about 1.5 hour tonight so we didn't get REAL far but we found the issue...

Passenger side head is trashed, valves look fine, but we will get the head off and see if the issue was contained just inside the head...

Some pictures to come

Yeah that's a whole lotta metal! Hopefully you get all that cleaned up. Don't forget to give that blower a good inspection/clean before it goes back on

The motor is being pulled, Tim Matherly will be doing the refresh. It'll be pulled apart, inspected, cranked checked, new seals, bearings, mill work...everything.

We just don't have the means to get the stuff done, tools or skill....

But we knew this and had planned to get it out there from the start.

Based on all those metal scraps, I'm guessing the pistons are scratched to ****.

Interesting, I wonder what could have caused the cam sprocket to bust.

Shooting for May, owner just had his ACL and a bunch of other things fixed yesterday so he is down for a little. No real BIG rush as its winter anyway. Car idled, so I would assume the bottom end is ok, if not he will just do pistons as it already has rods, if the crank is shot then I'd assume a 5.0 will come from this beast..

Some progress but not alot, since the owner had his ankle re-built() things have been slow, but even on crutches we got the motor stripped, starter, AC, exhaust un bolted, trans un bolted. Next we plan on having the motor out this week...maybe. We still haven't removed the driver valve cover or the passenger head to look down. More to come this week possibly..

Spent another 2 hours at it today, motor is out, found a few small issues elsewhere but nothing we are worried about.

Found a small leak in the rear, so we assume its just a bad tail shaft, no big worry.Name: E3EA8796-EBDE-47E0-9B9D-315192DD5BB6-1440-0000013E4A812F9B.jpg

Motors 100% out, decided to just put the valve cover on and not even look at the pistons, next step is get the motor down to GA and have his engine builder tear into it. Worse case, it'll most likely end up a 5.0 stroker, forged internals, custom cams. Best case, clean the shavings, check everything and button it up, the wear spot in the head is in a superficial spot....but we doubt it'll be this easy. My opinion is, new custom grind cams, pistons are going to be in order. Then we need to address the tail shaft issue.

Sorry for grammar, this was done from my iPhone.

After what seemed like a good idea, we road tripped it to Georgia to drop the motor off at the machine shop. They said it "should" be about a 4 week turn around. When they get into the motor I'll let you guys know what broke.
