What would be a fair price for a 2K Cobra R?

With 700 miles. The original price was $54,995.
Thanks for your opinions.

I am no expert by any means, but I do love watching prices on the ’00 R’s on ebay.com. As I’m sure you are aware there’s one on ebay with an asking price of $50K with 1600 miles. That seems a little high, unless the market is on an upswing for the ’00 R’s. Because I seem to remember some '00 R's selling in the upper $30's a while back.

I figured one could get into a ’00 R with low miles for around ~$45K, but maybe I’m way off.

I wouldnt want A/C personally.

Stereo could be done easily, plus you could run higher grade wiring yourself in it instead of factory harness's (good set of components up front, 2 ways in the back, a nice 4channel amp and headunit and you wouldnt be adding that much weight.

A s/c would be nice, but in a road race setup, to much stress on teh motor at that high of RPM's for that extended period of time. I'd much rather leave it N/A, get it tuned by the guys at SCT and put an o/r Dr. Gas X-pipe on it.

What kind of "stock" exhaust did the 00 Cobra R have from the factory? I heard somewhere that it came with a Bassani X-Pipe with Cats and Bassani Catback. Is this true? And if so, did they include MILs to block the check engine light due to the Xpipe. I have this problem with my Xpipe (check engine is back on because I think the MILs went bad). thanks

Yeah it was a Bassani catted X, but I believe it was borla cat-back/side exhaust. As far as MIL's, I highly doubt they put those in. They more than likely just turned off the rear o2 sensor readings in the computer via the tune.

I'm with Jason--I can't remember the last time one sold on eBay for more than $36,000. The 2003-2004 Cobra really put a hurt on R owners.

It is a serious dilemma since I would be sacrificing the Bullitt. Passing on the R is just as tough as letting the DHG go. One day I am all for it, the next day I ask myself if I've lost my marbles, which I probably already did a few years back.

The question I have is how many were made? That could have something to do with an asking price. Yep, the 03-04 Cobra did hurt the R but if only a few were made it's still collectable.

George, the 'R' is a pretty rare beast. If you could get it for under $34-36K, I think it would be worth it.

I wanna 2000 R with a Procharger F-1A and 17PSI. That would be so sick. The fair price would be 50k. They are always on ebay. Check on there to get pricing ideas. There were 300 made in the world. I wonder how many Ford kept? lol

Why don't you just build your own replica. Bolt in the 5.4 Lightning motor. You would be better off. I love the Real Rs but they r too pricey and rare. Build a replica like the one below and make it better. You also could rather buy Steedas Q400R

That's pretty sharp. I'd like to see it with the same finish on the wheels as the stock R, and with Bullitt or shaved side scoops.

Saleen 1/4 scoops would set it off. The gray wheels might look better.

Do you also think a replica of 1 BULLITT would be as good as the original?

So much for that "r"dea!!!

Thats funny. I think the Cobra Rs are just overrated. The only things they have on their side is their looks. Check out my thread in this section of the 03-04 cobras. It is why you should get a 03-04 cobra!

I agree. They are a bit overrated, but are unique as well. The looks are not important to me but the gathering of aftermarket participation and the upgrades in it is.
