What rear gear with t56 magnum?
What rear gear with t56 magnum?
I have a 99 cobra and its my DD and I don't plan on going forced induction, and I bought a t56 magnum wide ratio. I have an xpipe catback cold air TB pullies and a tune. But that new 6 speed is just too tall of gears with the stock 3.27. If I remember correctly the ratios were.
This is my dd and I drive highway a lot and don't want to sacrifice mpgs..
1st. 2.97
2nd. 2.10
3rd. 1.46
4th. 1.1
5th. .74
6th. .50

With a .50 6th gear I would select 430s or 410s(minimum) for DD. (Some people may even suggest 456s.)
Here is a gear calculator you can mess to assist in your decision.

www.paladinmicro.com has the best gear calculator I ever saw. And it has instructions in getting a new edge to 12s n/a. Great site. Someone put alot of work into it
Svtp did a poll on favorite cobra gears. 355 was #1. 373 was #2. 411 is not recommended. If you own a SVT vehicle you must belong to SVTP if only for reference purposes. The best resource for svt vehicles.

Most polls/threads I have seen for New Edge Cobras (NA) on svtperformance read different (410s or 430s), especially with a T56 Magnum spec (.50 6th) transmission . . . .

Yes its prob going to be a bit more because all of the gear installers Ive known say the IRS sucks to install on. Something else you need to remember, your gonna need to do a tune most likely in order to correct the speedo (and get some hp at the same time). I cant remember off hand which years could use a speedo gear, but then with the different tranny, theres no telling now.
Yea I'm still debating I have been training for a new job so I have been without much pay for a few weeks, I am also leaning toward a 4:10 just bc I don't really do any kind of racing where I'm looking for every possible second. Just that good solid fast car feel, and a gear is way cheaper than keeping my stock gear and adding FI. I'm nervous about letting other people install them and even more so trying the job myself. I've done all the work on the car from the tranny and clutch swap and the full bolt ons. I'm sure its a electronic speedo but I've already got a handheld tuner so that's no issue, I appriciate the responses guys.

Was that in termi's or n/a corbras though. You also have to remember he has a t-56 tranny, not a t-45 so the extra OD gear is sluggish in his current n/a setup.

Yes, I know this.. but the origional poster does not have a 03 car. he has a 99, which is not supercharged. The gears he has in it now compared to what Al suggested would not be a big difference for a n/a car like it would on a s/c car.
I probably wouldn't go lower than a 373 even n/a. Maybe on a gt but not the cobra. Unless it's gonna see more racing than cruising. I'm still toying with the idea of 373 in mine. Should put me at the top of 4th through the traps. As it is now, have to shift early to get there.
