The Mach1 motors are awesome. I think it should be a very direct swap on your car. There were alot of guys swapping in 99/01 cobra motors into 96-04 GT's awhile back. A great site with alot of info directly related to this topic is http://www.cobrapoweredgt.com

The mach motors are basically just like yours, except they have 4 cams and twice hte valves. Your coil packs, and all injectors should mount right up. (you will want to use the injectors that come with the motor, 24lb i believe vs your 19lb).

Also you will have to put a chip in to reprogram the ECU to properly operate that motor.

I have heard alot of bad luck with "Junk" Cobra motors, Use a 03-04 Cobra motor, I hear they are the only ones that aren't junk. The Mach 1 has cylinder Head issues, and have a relatively weak bottom end.

all good advice.. so the mach1 uses the same tranny as gt's? and they also have a way different intake with the shaker hood and intake what should i do cuz i dont plan on changing my hood or anything could i get a cold air intake that would work with the motor and eliminate the shaker system ?

You need to make sure that the mach will bolt up to a t-45 tranny. But it does use the t3650 which ford swapped to in '01. It should work fine.

You can probably get an intake system for a 01 cobra to use to replace the mach system. The intake is the same as the 99/01 cobra I believe.

there are hundreds of opinions out there on 4v motors. the 99 motors were not that great at first, but once ford did the "fix" to them, they were great. I have a friend with an 01 cobra crate motor in his 96 gts. He is around 320rwhp now and that car flat out hauls!

The mach1 motors are awesome n/a motors. Granted it'd be nice if they had forged internals like an 03, but for the price you can get a crate motor, its not bad. They can withhold moderate boost and nitrous levels. Just make sure you get it tuned by someone who knows what they are doing.

I Agree, Whats the price on the Mach 1 Motor. Why don't you want a Shaker, I think they r sweet. The Cobra Manifold Should work great, Put a T-56 6 speed tranny in it.

Why go through all of he trouble to swap to a mach motor? You can get the same power out of the 2v motor. I would beef up the bottom end, cams, bullet intake, 24 pound injectors, custome tune, and let that female dog eat.

Also you dont have to change anything with the transmission a t45 bolts up to a mach1 motor also to a 03 motor. You would have to change the flywheel/clutch/pressureplate possibly if yours isnt a 8 bolt crank.
