Straight pipes

Anyone ever got rid of their X or h pipe and ran straight pipes all the way back? If so did they like the sound or would it sound like a redneck truck? TIA

I don't like the sound of the coyote. It's too raspy. It doesn't sound as deep & throaty as our fox with just the resonators deleted. Listen to a 12/13 BOSS with the side dumps open. That would be the closest thing I can think of to straight pipes.

Don't do it. It's just going to sound obnoxious. Just like the jackasses around here with straight pipes on their trucks that are just poppy, stupid loud, and sound so awful the poor trucks should be put out of their misery.

An X-pipe (or H-pipe) should balance the exhaust to run smoother and give more HP.
The exhaust guy must just like that kind of sound to suggest running without one.
No performance advantage.

"Flowmaster® strongly recommends using a crossover tube, otherwise known as an “H” pipe or balance pipe on all true dual exhaust systems. The crossover pipe equalizes the exhaust pressure and allows the sounds waves to communicate between both banks of the engine. Not only does this usually improve torque in the low to mid rpm range, it also creates a deeper mellower tone both inside and outside of the vehicle and helps eliminate “back-rap” on deceleration."
