Sequential signals
I was just wondering what everyone thinks about the sequential signals and the flashing third brake light. The sequential signal look awesome but do they add safety at all. Just wondering
As for the installation, how difficult is it?

i dont like flashing brake lights, but i LOVE the sequential brake lights

Of the two, the sequential is the best. I had considered adding the flashing brake light after my sequential install, but I really feel that makes the back of the car WAY too busy (and a sequential blinker and flashing brake light, talk about distracting).
I'm not so sure they add a degree of safety. If anything I feel sequentials actually make the blinking harder to see in the day because even when you adjust the sequencing with a new regulator under the dash, it flashes fairly quickly and in medium to bright light you may not even see it.
The cool factor is undeniable. I have NEVER actually seen another Mustang with them (they are popular with enthusiasts for the most part) so they will cause the car to catch people's eye.
Installation ease depends on the kit. The plug in systems are easiest, but the most expensive. The splice in systems are the best value. You have to pull the rear lights and splice the modules in and replace the sequencer under the dash, but it all takes a little over an hour. If you can follow the directions, its easy.
The best kit (with replacement OEM sequencer and excellent directions) is from WEB Electric at www.webelectricproducts.com. If you look for his auctions on ebay, sometimes you can save 10-20 bucks vs. buying right off his website.

after riding motorcycles for years, always with high mounted brake lights with the modualtor. I have to say I like them and have the sequential turn signals, and a brake light flasher. May help, may not, but cheap and easy... and you do not see a lot of them around.
Here is a clip, shot with a web cam to get the Exhaust sound for some people that also shows the sequentials and the flasher.

I just put mine on this weekend (WebElectrics)
The basic install was very easy - an hour for me.
I like that the harness is a refurbished Ford harness - all the rubber seals in the right places etc. I not senting my old hardness in though - just in case the police don't see the cool in my mod.
-------
To stop the sequencing of the brake lights you need to add two extra control wires from the front passenger junction box to the tail lights - that was the toughest for me.
Hiding the wire from front to back - peice of cake. i just folowed the factory harness that runs to the tail.
The bigest problem I had was with the size of the wires in the junction box. Must be 20 gauge wire (or higher)! I was so sure I was going to cut right through, when I just wanted to bare a small 1/4"
1) Finding the grey/black wire was easy (for wire #1)
2) Finding the dark blue/orange wire (wire #2) was not so easy, two are very close choices. I needed to get a circuit tester to find the right one.
I used black 18gauge lamp cord for the two control wires, soldered all the connections - took me FIVE hours for this part including but that included two trips to the hardware store. (Smaller gauge lamp code wire, and circuit testing tool)
All in all, give yourself enough time - when the hardware stores are open
and go for it - I'm really happy with mine.
As far as safety, I'm nore sure - as much as one might say it catches your eye better, someone else might say that it's distracting to other drivers and they may miss somthing else they should be looking at.
...Oh what do I care - their behind me and fading fast !
