redoing the MAF

does this cost a lot? b/c i'm looking into buying a cold air intake and throttle body but don't want to spend over 250 total

What do you mean by redoing the MAF? if you mean moving it inside hte fender with a CAI, it should cost you anything, unless you have to get some wire and butt connectors to extend the harness.

I was reading on a site and it said that for certain Throttle Body/intake kits that the MAF will have to be recalibrated.

No, the only time the MAF has to be recalibrated is if you change fuel injectors. Normally you can still run different injectors and the stock maf, but it has to be corrected through a chip or flash through the computer done by a tunber. a CAI and throttle body should be ok with teh stock MAF in all but supercharged instances.
