My 97 GT is an automatic. Anyone know which gears are considered the best for my car? It's a daily driver.

I had 4.10's in my 00 GT automatic. They were a lil steep for a daily driver, but not unbearable. the difference it made at the track and anytime I got on the throttle was definitely worth it.

That's what I've heard so I've been leaning towards the 3.73's. Not as steep but still some improvement. I will be doing alot of highway driving also including some 1000-2000 mile runs.

The 3.73's would be a good choice for a daily driver. it'd give you more oomph, but would just kill your gas mileage.

I like the 3.55's in my Mach, so they'll be staying put. They're also a good mix of oomph and civility. The 3.73's would probably be a good choice for you, if it's truly mostly a daily driver and not a track car.

Long time no see or talk JeffreyDJ (MR. MODERATOR) . I decided against a Mach 1. The 97 will be paid off soon and the thought of trading it in and financing about 15K just doesn't do it for me. I figured it's cheaper to fix the few things wrong and add a few performance items. Even with the paint job I don't think I would spend more than 4 or 5 thousand. Besides, I've done alot to this one, I don't want to pay to do it all over again on a 01 or 02 GT. I think I listed all the mods I've done in the intro section.

Hey, what's been going on?

And, yup, understandable. It's not a bad idea to go ahead and work on the 97. And, I know what you mean about gas milage. I can't get mine to 300 miles on a tank!

I remember when there were guys on the registry claiming to get 28 mpg . I drive mine normal for the most part, and still can't get 300 miles out of a tank.

Quit being scared and get the 4.10's already! You didn't buy the car for it's great gas mileage anyway.

Wow, putting it that way I guess I should get the 4.10's. Nope, I didn't buy it for the mileage but I have heard stories about 4.10's wearing out transmissions faster. That I do care about. I read in MM&FF that 3.73's didn't wear out the transmission as fast but they didn't say anything about the difference in time or wear. If it was just a small difference, I'd be all over the 4.10's.
