At the car show I was at yesterday, I was happy to see the following car (having never seen one in the flesh before) The paint is absolutely amazing. The owner is rightl very proud of the car and has only put 500 miles on it since he imported it a year ago!
Apparently only 13 cars were painted this way in 96, so makes it a pretty rare beast! It was apperently owned by Bobby Seay, Pitcher for the Tampabay Devil Rays

No, he was being very cagey on value......can't be cheap though. Put it this way, it had a crack on the piece of plastic that runs up the side of the windshield, done by the company that changed the windscreen. They have agreed to fix it with their insurance, piece of plastic $20, paint $1200!!!! the paint has to be purchased from Saleen and they really CHARGE for it!!!

I believe it. SVT mystics have to be sent to special shops to repair the paint from what I have read. The green used in the SVT mystichrome cobras is actually the same green used in american currency and basf keeps it higly under wraps.

Part of the paint is or was used in CANADIAN currency...not American .
It's not "special shops" that can do it but BASF sends a rep in with the paint...stands there while the painter paints the car and then takes all remaining paint and leaves. This is at least the way it was handled years back.
....And James...you mean Saleen OVERCHARGES for the paint....like everything else they have. I have no use for Saleen after they jerked us around on parts for an '89 we fixed for a customer 2 years ago. 4 months to get a rear spoiler is not acceptable and their own side skirts were made incorrectly and they didn't want to hear any different. The owner finally got hold of Steve and got everything straightened out but they lied repeatedly about the shipment of parts that were never actually shipped. I wouldn't even want to think about having to trust them to send paint anywhere in the US let alone overseas!
It's a nice car but anyone who pays nearly $12K on top of sticker for a custom paint on a basically stickered up GT either has money to burn or no sense in my opinion.
