Radar/laser detector in CA
I have a 2000 mustang gt convertible, & I wanted to buy and install a escort 9500ci by this coming week but I'm having second thoughts about it because of the laser jamming laws here in CA, & I'm not really sure how am I gonna set up the laser shifters on my car since the upper grill is a lil small for stealth & idk if the cops will buy that the rear laser shifter is a parking sensor. Any advise or recommendations? & is it worth the risk?

Escort is great for radar, but not as great for laser. Since you're in a state where jammers are illegal, I'd want the absolute best you can get. You don't only have to worry about whether they'll "believe" you...but if their gun gave them a jam code, then you're getting a ticket either way. Either way, the 9500ci is a great radar detector.
Cobra is a waste of money. Stay far far away from it...

It depends on the gun, and your jammers, but they know when they're being jammed.
Unless something has changed recently, valentine 1 has always had a slight edge in laser detection. But in either case, laser detection is next to worthless. By the time you detect it, if at all, he's already got your speed.

For me personally, I wouldn't be able to stand all the false alarms from the V1 while I'm driving around DFW. So you might also think about what features are available from each of them...

I gave up on radar detectors several years ago. THEIR technology is such that by the time you get an alert it is too late in many cases. I rely on not going insanely over the limit, keeping a sharp eye out on what is all around and ahead of me, and using intuition to warn me that there is a danger zone ahead. It has worked well for me, and I don't drive like your grandma.

Stereo type about a grandma driving 2 slow ain't true, I saw a grandma on the freeway long hair Dnt care was packing som serious hp, lol she was cool she was racing us on & off. I agree with genius, that's y I'm picking up the valentine v1 this wk for my hwy use, the escort redline & the beltronics GX65 still has me puzzled on witch has better performance, but eventually I might pik up the 9500ix for my city use since it has GPS, false alert filter & all dat Gud stuff

Nope. Laser hasn't been used around my area very much, until recently. The cops in Denton will set up once or twice a month, usually around holidays or really busy event days. Pretty ****ty deal, but at least I know where to expect it. They set up over a blind hill/curve and a cop will stand on the side of the road with a laser and have a line of about 10 patrol cars ready to go get everyone.
