question on headers

i have just about every bolt-on (pulleys, cai, throttle body, plenum, etc.) on my 01 gt.

i am now thinking about headers... what kind of gains can i expect with a nice set of ceramic coated headers?

Is it just going to be the headers or are you changing the whole system?

I have no personal experience, but from what I have heard, long tubes are really where you will see significant gains. Shorties are cheaper and easier to install, but for the time and effort required for installation, the power gains arent worth it. You're better off going with LTs. Youre going to spend more time and money with them, but the power gains are considerably greater. Ive heard around 12-15 hp and maybe 25 lb-ft. I dont know how accurate those numbers are, but someone else can probably give a more accurate number.

Dan is pretty close. I've heard all the way from 25rwhp and 30ftlbs, to 10hp and 20ftlbs.

When I installed my BBK shorties, I lost low-end torque but gained mid-range and top-end power. They look a lot better than the stock headers, also.

Valentino made a good point. Long headers gain more torque, while shorties gain more high rph horse power (This is also the way old intake runners work too. Short for power, long for torque).
