some of you may have seen my posts the past month or so with questions about buying a 99+ gt. well i put a deposit down on one earlier this month but it took until today for the private seller to get the title from his bank. i picked up the car today. im still getting used to driving a 5spd (my last car was auto) but i had some practice with an older beater so its not like im damaging the mustang. the car is one of the limited edition 35th anniv. models in performance red with black leather. 5spd and all the other options.

i just have a few questions after my first day with it...

1. owners manual says to used unleaded (87) gas. i had thought some of you on here talked about how you used premium gas but it seems like the owners manual recommends against it. just wondering if unleaded 87 works fine.

2. (regarding 5spd) when parking i had thought you just had to put the car in N and then apply the parking brake. owners manual says to put in first afer applying parking brake. do you guys do this or leave it in neutral?

3. my car has the mach 460 which i thought included a 6 cd changer in dash but i havent seen anything in the manual about 6cds. i have the 6 speakers and all that say mach 460 but maybe some mach460's dont have the indash changer?

id really appreciate any of your answers...

and i took some pics today but theyre on my other computer. ill get them up tommorow!

Use the 87. It's what your car's computer is programmed for, and gas is expensive.

Put the car in first when you park. My parking brake failed and my car rolled into a garage door. Make absolutely certain you leave it in first.

I'm not sure about the Mach 460...I wonder if the 6-disc changer wasn't available until later? One of our '99 owners will be able to shed more light on that subject.

Post pics!

The 6 disc didn't show up until 2002. I was going to buy a 2000 a while back and saw that it had a single disc and tape deack with a Mach 1000.

I saw the difference in the 6 disk at a show this weekend. It was 2002. I saw a great 2000GT and then saw the CD/Cassette deck. Don't worry.....there are always aftermarket stereos.

CONGRATS on the car, looking forward to pictures.

last one...

btw the rims on the car are the 99 cobra alloys. not my choice...i would have preferred the special 35th ones but the owner only had these. maybe ill get the 35th ones in the future but right now all my money is going to car payments so ill have to wait on them.

the only other mod on the car is a k&n cold air intake.

nice car man! yeah man definitely want to leave the car in gear when parked! also if on a steep incline with the nose of the car pointing down i usually park it with the car in reverse. my friend had a mustang parked on a hill in his driveway. had the car in first, his parking brake failed it rolled down his driveway in first gear and his his fence

Even with out much of a slope the car will roll unless in gear. I parked my Mustang in my apartment parking lot and my girlfriend found it rolled into the middle of the parking area. So yes no matter what put it in gear!

Nice Stang by the way! I would've preferred the 35th wheels myself but those Cobra's are sharp!

Glad to hear you finally got it! Looks really nice. As for your questions, I see they have been answered, but again 87 octane is what I use and i got 21.6 mpg(around town) last tank.

Your mach 460 only has a one disc cd player. You may have some trouble with it not kicking out a cd once in a while. If it does act up, just take a bank card or credit card and push it into the slot and try to pry up on the Cd a little and it should pop out.

Good luck!

thanks

as for mods...not anytime soon. the cars gonna be my daily driver which works great for me since i have a full time job this summer that is about 10 miles away and all curvy 2 lane back roads with big shoulders

during the school year im gonna have my mustang at school with me which is about 20 minutes from my house. i wont really be driving it much during the school year except for back and forth to my house for a visit maybe once a week. but either way im gonna at least wait til the car is paid off in 3 years before i do any real mods.

those black side stripe things on there now are from the previous owner. i already ordered and recieved black mustang side stripes and black bumper inserts which i HAD been planning to install...but i think im having second thoughts. more than likely ill just have those black things taken off and keep it looking clean.

also theres still a dealer sticker on the back...its like vinyl or rubber letters just stuck on there. it was hot enough the other day that it seemed that i could just peel them off but i dont want to leave outlines where they were or anything. ive heard people say just use a hairdryer. anyone have any thoughts?

You may get slight marks left from the decals and the paint may be a bit more brilliant underneath since it has not been exposed to the sun and elements, but a good wax like Megiuars NXT may take that off.

As for driving it everyday, have fun! Just park far enough away to keep that baby in great condition
