Hey guys, I just recently got a 2004 GT 5spd... I was driving a V6, but had a couple of questions about some performance mods for the gt... From what you've seen who makes the best CAI (Price and performance) for the car? Also, because I want to upgrade the exhaust here in the near future, what do you think would be the better route, X or H piping???

K&N, keep the stock H, switch to Borla Stinger catbacks.

Well it came with a K&N, and from what i was able to find it is a good one, so im going to leave that. Yeah, I traded my 05 V6 in for this and lowered my payment, and had virtually no change in insurance with equal miles on the engine. Think I got a deal on a GT with 7500 miles, for my V6 with 6800. Broke my heart to lose the 05, but I needed the 8. haha. Also, waiting on my Xcal2 dealer to send me a new program for the GT which will be nice . There I loaded some pictures of my new GT.

Didn't realize you traded an 05. That had to be a tough decision.
Anyway, did it come ith just a K&N filter, or the full CAI? A full CAI will add much more then just a filter drop. From someone who just did it, take my word for it.
Quiet honestly, I could never tell ANY difference with just a K&N filter. The Steeda CAI made a noticeable difference, however.

Dont know it came with it on... I had a Steeda in the v6, and it looks like more or less the same setup on a differant engine, and it was a CAI. Yeah, it was a tough decision... but the bigger engine pushed it over, plus the car is in great condition... Atleast I already have the Xcal2 tune and the intake.. If I can find the Steeda for a good price maybe... but, this seems like it works good enough.. K&N claim and show on a dyno 10.5 hp for the kit it has.

Are you looking only for horsepower, or handling as well?
Other easy, fairly inexpensive things to do (other then exhaust and CAI), you can go underdrive pulleys.
As far as the X - H debate. The MRT H is fairly expensive, but is probably the best of the buch in H pipes. X's can be had a bit cheaper, a few Ive seen have claimed gains better then then MRT H. However, you do tend to lose that Muscle Car rumble a bit with an X.
Handling, you can go strut tower, springs, and sub-frame connectors. There probably some other things you can do here, I'm really reciting a list of things I've either done recently or plan to do

yeah... well I been wanting to get some sport springs, I know Eibach and steeda have good ones.. short shifter, and gearing... Definatly have to do something with the exhaust... I have my tuner like I said... What kind of gains and what are some good UDP for the stangs?

Thanks... .. Here's a good question, what do you guys think of a 75mm throttle body? Worth the money?? Here's the link to it on Ebay, looks fairly cheap from what i've seen as far as throttle bodies go..Throttle body

I went with the MAC CAI and the Basani X Pipes. MAC for the price and most reviews online were favorable. Basani because of the sound. I have a convertible and wanted something deep but not too loud. Basani was not cheap but I still think sounded the best. Very low but nice when WOT. I also would recomend the Throttlebody and Plenum upgrade. Not only did I get additional HP from the Throttlebody and Plenum but it impacted the sound and also increased the throttle response when I step on the gas pedal.
