In about a 4-6 months I'm hoping to purchase an 01-02 Torch Red Mustang GT with a 5-speed. I plan on keeping it for a very long time because I got some money coming my way in two years and from I'm reading from this forum that it's a safe bet that the GT will last me along time even with high mileage.

I honestly can't find a supercharger out there that really appeals to my taste and I can never find horsepower ratings from Saleen or Roush. I only like the roots-type superchargers and I cannot stand the kenne bell for some reason. So my questions are:

What are the horsepower ratings for Saleen and Roush Mustangs?

Which one would be better?

Please help me out because the sites I check for power adders don't really help me much.

Not sure on the HP ratings, your best bet would be to call Roush and Saleen and ask to speak to a technical person about how much power is added, and what else is needed/advised to do in additional modifications (i.e. fuel pump, injectors, etc.).

I would get a saleen, they are expensive. However, the look quite nice, and you know it has to be powerful if it is "2 Fast 2 Furious."

I have nothing really against them. I don't like the fact that there is a bunch of tubes and stuff to put it in. Takes too much time. It takes up a bunch of space under the hood. There's alot of punks in my town with yellow mustangs who thinks they can beat anyone, This kid who's daddy bought him a 600HP Supercharged Nova, and these little ricers. I plan on putting them in there place in a few years.

your gonna need a kenne Bell then. Saleen and Roush roots blowers are no where near as effecient as a KB or a centri blower. The reason, they produce massive amounts of heat and do not flow teh volumes the others can flow. With a roush, look at their cars. They take stock GT motors, throw their blower on with 10lbs of boost adn only get 360 or so tops.

You mention taking to much time to install. Why rush it? When you rush putting on something like a s/c, you may forget something or not get it installed properly, therefore breaking parts and possibly blowing your motor. Defintely research all options before making your final decision.

Btw, for 600hp to keep up with that nova, you are gonna have to have a fully built motor and run a centri blower with lots of boost.

Thanks for the advice Scott. I'll probably keep researching by looking at cars on car domain and looking at other sites.

If you want to talk to someone who seriously knows mod motors and putting alot of boost to them, Talk to Tim Barth, owner/operator of http://www.modularfordpowerhouse.com (T&J Performance in Atlanta).

Whoa they got alot of awesome stuff. I checked out the Kenne Bell's site and it said I can get 262hp added on with 14psi. I may just buy a Roush or Saleen still and maybe get some NOS if its possible. Do you know if the Saleen and Roush have a 2.80 pulley cause I coudn't find any pulleys on their sites

I really hope you are planning on building the motor's lower end if you want to push anything more than 10lbs of boost safely. 14lbs through a KB (or any blower for taht fact) is a reciepe for shattered pistons and split rods.

I've pretty much decided to leave the GT alone when I buy it but when the time comes I'll probably get a 01 Cobra, rebuild a the motor, and put in a procharger with intercooler or the Vortech with the Paxton intercooler setup I saw you guys talk about in another topic. Thanks for the help

Amen, dust the Nova. 14lbs? Wow, Scott had that one right, you'll need to toughen up the car first. I was looking for 6lbs or a bit more.

I was thinking of having the engine sent to Sean Hyland Motorsports. Im pretty sure they could build me a really strong motor that could be supercharge ready even able to use nitrous without a problem
