Need help with MODs
Ok so I am finally adding mods to my stock pony... So I would really love to hear suggestions from people that have already added mods... So I need to know what's best for my 1997 GT... Right now um looking for a new exhaust system, intake... And whatever you suggest

Moving to '1994-2004 V8' section, but will leave link for a few hours . .
And what is your budget for your planned modifications?
To you have an end goal in mind? (Modifications for particular application or general performance improvements?)
Are you more interested in handling/suspension modifications, hp/tq, gears, etc.
Not knowing any of the above I would suggest . .
Welded Subframe connectors
Shifter
Springs
Cat-Back
Gears
PI Swap
Tune?

Right now I have saved up 10gs and I am looking more towards adding HP/tq... Suspension stuff somewhat as of now... Gears I really don't know much of and how they affect the cars rpm...

I would start with thoroughly inspecting the vehicle (undercarriage and all!) If all is cool, beef up the plugs, wires and coil packs (MSD or Accel). At this time I would install a cold air intake (K&N, BBK). The next thing I would work on is the exhaust system. Headers to tail pipe.

Pi swap for sure. While you sre there do headers. Complete exhaust. Id do cams while doing pi swap also. Or go big and do the trickflow heads. Pi swap is 99-04 heads and intake. Flow much better and add a good amount of HP

The 99-04 heads and intake have better intake and exhaust flow values than the 96-98 heads. Other than that and piston dish the motors are the same. The npi (non Performance Improved) motors have little or no dish on the piston tops. The pi has more of a dish in the piston. So by swapping the pi heads to a npi bottom end you have more compression than the 99-04 stock motor. It's a pretty in depth process, as I am learning right now trying to get all the components together to do this myself. But the outcome will be worth it. It will put your compression up to about 10:1 instead of stock which I believe is 9:1 someone correct me if I'm wrong. You will need a plethora of gaskets and fasteners. And make sure you have the right cam covers. They change depending on weather they are Windsor or Romeo heads. Also it is advised to have the heads checked out if you buy them used. Especially valve seats and seals. Or like the other guy said. Trick flow heads and cams. Professional products makes a performance intake manifold also but I haven't heard anything about them. Good luck and keep us posted. I will try to do the same on my swap. There's some info in my pi swap essentials thread also.
