MAF sensor it is called. A mass air flow sensor is used to find out the mass of air entering a fuel-injected internal combustion engine. The air mass information is necessary for the ECU to balance and deliver the correct fuel mass to the engine. I would leave it connected.

Ok I know about the mass air flow sensor sorry I wasn't more specific there is another sensor that plugs into the intake tube that I have no clue what it does but I am trying to figure out why this form is saying you are suposed to unplug it with an aftermarket intake

If you have a pre 01 that is a intake air temp sensor. After mid 01 it is built in to the MAF sensor. Unplugging it wont do anything except cut timing because its sensing a high reading whun unplugged which make computer think its hot air forcing it to cut timing and power
