Need help!

I was going to do my serpentine belt but there is no bolt on the tensioner pulley to loosen of the tension to get the belts on or off. anyone know how to change the belt on a 99 GT?

-to replace the belt, insert a 1/2 inch breaker bar or ratchet into the square hole located in the tensioner body. rotate the tensioner clockwise to releive tension on the belt
-remove the belt from the auxilary components and carefully release the tensioner
-route new belt over various pulleys, again rotating the tensioner to allow the belt to be installed, then releas the belt tensioner. make sure the belt fits properly in the pulley grooves - it must be completely engaged

the tensioner should be on the lower left hand side (if you are outside and facing the front of the car) inbetween the A/C and Crankshaft pulleys

Oh theres some fun I just did my x's for her as her Rangers belt was squeeking so it needed a new tensioner and I discovered as her truck is a 3.litre that someone before threaded the belt wrong ? There are generally diagrams on the front plate, which made my job easy and also look good too as I saved her at least $ 150.00

oh yah Never ever use a belt dressing on a serpintine belt. It will say so to on the can, No I did not her boyfriend did ha ha. then it squeeled like a pig !

So does that plate have to be on? Another of Ford's "better ideas" - making a simple thing harder than it has to be? If not, just toss it. Save a few grams off the nose!

the plate is actually about 1/2 a pound. And i did not put it back on after i did the belt..

but as for the weight savings...didn't save any since i put it in my tool box and my tool box along with my floor jack and jack stands and all my auto crap is in my trunk.

sucks living in an apartment and not having a garage.

you could at least leave the plate inside the apartment

This coming from the guy who carried his tool box, floor jack, jackstands, jumper cables, gas mask, assorted car cleaning chemicals, buffer, air compressor, spare camaro/mustang II parts, supercharger, brackets, etc in the trunk of his Mazdarati

I'm just being a late night annoying teenager. my apologies lol

Edit: though i suppose this could at least be helping weight distribution, getting weight over the rear axle and all
