As the description says I'm getting a '97 Mustang GT, I will be picking the car up tomorrow. I currently drive an '82 mustang with the 5.0 but I'm graduating from high school next week and will be starting college in only a few short month's. I love my '82 but I'll be about 11 hours away so I wanted a newer one to drive to school and back (in case anything goes wrong with my car). Anyway, I am getting a black '97 gt that is in great condition. The car has basically every option available, the mach 460 sound system sounds pretty good. It has a Pro 5.0 short throw shifter which feels amazing compared to my '82. If you can't tell, I'm very excited about this car, it's exactly what I was looking for right now. I'll stop rambling now, so here's the first picture of my new car.

Thats cool! Was the '82 your first Mustang? You never forget your first, Mine was a '85 SVO and I wish I had her back. Congrats on the '97

Thanks... Yeah, the '82 was my first car. I bought it with my own money when I was 15 and started driving it when I got my license at 16yrs old. I'll be 18 in 3 months so I've driven it for close to 2 years and it's been great to me. I've put close to 15,000 miles on it and have driven it pretty hard but it held up great, the only things that I had to fix were a starter & alternator that went bad. I had been fixing her up slowly as well; I had it repainted this past fall, I put a real nice pioneer stereo with pioneer speakers, and was beginning to fix up the interior. I will be sad to see her go.

We're putting the '82 up for $2,750; it needs some work but it's a pretty fast, good car.

Congratulations! It's definately the right color ;-). My first was a 92 GT and I'll never forget it! You'll always talk about your '82 even though you'll probably enjoy the '97 better.

Thanks, you've got a really nice car there, aria, I definetely like the color. I got the car home yesterday and cleaned the interior this afternoon with my girlfriend and it looks great. I'm getting the title tomorrow so I've only driven the car once which was when I test drove it, everything is so much nicer than my '82 and I'll more than likely enjoy it more but I'll always talk about the loud '82 mustang that was my first car.

That paint looks nice in the picture. Is it my eyes, or are the headlights a little clouded over? That car would look great with some smoked headlight covers.

Congratulations!! I had an 87 GT. I loved it but it doesn't hold a candle to my 99. You'll really enjoy the handling on the 97. Its not as punishing but can carve corners better than the 82. The 4.6 engine is also just phenominal. I was a skeptic at first but I really love it now!! In the future I would like to get a black 86 GT to race with but my 99 will always be my baby, got lots of plans for it in the works already! Enjoy and have fun!!!

I think you are right Steve. the 94-98 stang's were bad about the headlights clouding. Wet sanding will help clean those up, but honestly replacing them is the only way to eliminate the look. http://www.50resto.com has smoked ones that look awesome as well as all the clear and diamond headlights you can imagine.

Yeah, the headlights are clouded over. I've actually thought about replacing them already and have looked on 50resto. I've bought some stuff for my '82 from 50resto and have been happy with the service and quality. I'm new to these mustangs so I'm not sure which headlights would look good on it. I saw you mentioned the smoked one's scothew, I looked on 50resto and they're what I'm leaning towards right now. If anyone has suggestions or pictures it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Personally, I would go with the smoked lights. They look great on a black car. The only thing would be that they might look funny with regular clear fog lights.
