IS MY DIFF ABOUT TO CRAP OUT ?
#1
Well here goes.. a little while ago I went to a car show where they had a burnout contest and did about 20 8's be fore my tires went out... since then I have a weird noise coming from the rear end... sound like a bad bearing noise coming from the rear end.... some ppl told me I may need new clutch packs.. could it be anything else ???? my car runs fine and both wheels still hook up really good ??? BUT the nois is quite annoying.. I was just wondering how hard it would be to rebuild the rear end of the car... ANY HELP IS MUCH APRECIATED

Have you gone down the list and checked the rear diff oil and the bearings?
Rebuilding a rear end only takes a day or a weekend depending on how often you stop to get another beer.
Have you regeared the rearend or is it stock? You can use this as an excuse to change the gears and beef up the rear.

if you needed new clutch plates, only one wheel would generally be spinning. You may have burnt up a bearing. GO ahead and have the fluid changed in it somewhere just to make sure its got plenty. That may help it out some. I'd start saving for a rebuild. Its not to terribly hard to rebuild one, but its better to let someone with experience in gear changes do it.. the reason being, if you dont get the gears lined up properly, they will hum and drive you insane (probably like you are hearing now)
